The Vaqueros are back on the road this Friday as we head to Sparks High School for Week 4 which is our fourth straight week traveling away from home.

Over the course of these four road trips, our team will have logged approximately 1,114 total miles traveled between Fernley, Damonte Ranch, Bishop, Elko, Sparks, and back home again.

That means four straight weeks of long bus rides, unfamiliar environments, late nights, recovery, practice, preparation and then doing it all over again.

What this group has been able to handle week in and week out is impressive, and to say the least no easy task for high school student athletes when you think about the amount and time they spent traveling to go and compete at a high level.

It’s just another opportunity for the vaqueros to represent Fernley wherever the road takes us.

Let’s get to 1-0. Go Vaqueros!

Congratulations to FHS Class of 2025 alum Riley McCullar on earning a spot on the Montana Western travel roster as a TRUE FRESHMAN!

That title carries weight. Riley stepped directly from high school football into the college game without a redshirt year and has already earned enough trust from his coaches to travel and be ready to contribute.

College football is a different world, faster practices, bigger and more experienced players, complex schemes, and competition at every position. As a freshman, you’re battling sophomores, juniors, seniors, transfers, and returning players for limited opportunities.

Travel roster spots are earned, not given. For a true freshman to secure one speaks volumes about his preparation, toughness, work ethic, and ability.

Montana western is currently a Top 25 team in the country for the NAIA and they compete in one of the hardest conferences to win in, known as the Frontier Conference.

Riley is showing our current Vaqueros exactly what’s possible when you continue putting in the work.

Keep earning it, Riley. Your hometown is watching. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!

The Vaqueros lose a heartbreaker being down 14-0 to start the game. It all came down to a dramatic 3rd & Goal on the less then 1 yard line with less than 5 seconds on the clock to potentially tie the game and force overtime. The vaqueros came up short in the end. The resilience and fight that they showed the entire game kept them in it! They will look to bounce back and rebound as they travel to Elko (0-1) next week for their first league game. Kickoff is set for 4:30pm (JV) & 7:00pm (V) .

On a positive note the JV program has started the season 2-0 for the first time in 7+ years. They will look to extend their win streak to 3 games next week. The future is bright!

The Vaqueros begin the next leg of their trek as they head to Bishop, California for Week 1 and the second of four straight games on the road.
There’s nothing easy about life away from home, different field, different town, same standard.
The Vaqueros are packing up and taking the show on the road once again as they continue building their identity one stop at a time.

GAME WEEK IS HERE!

Week 0 has arrived, and Fernley Football is officially back! This Friday, the Vaqueros head to Damonte Ranch High School to take on the Coral Academy of Science - Reno Falcons in the Hall of Fame Game.

We’d love to see our families, alumni, students, and community come out, pack the stands, and support our guys as we kick off the 2026 season!

What an incredible first day of youth camp!

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to every player, parent, volunteer, and supporter who helped make our 2nd Annual FHS Youth Football Camp turnout a tremendous success.

The Fernley community continues to amaze us. Your support for our student-athletes and youth programs is something we never take for granted, and we are incredibly grateful to call this community home. We are also thankful for our continued partnership with the Fernley Youth Football League. Together, we’re creating opportunities for young athletes to learn the game, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for football.

We are especially excited to share that our camp participation nearly doubled this year, growing from 56 campers in 2025 to 107 campers in 2026! Seeing so many young athletes come out with energy, excitement, and a willingness to learn is a testament to the bright future of football in Fernley.

A special recognition also goes out to our outstanding FHS Football players, who served as camp counselors throughout the camp. Their leadership, patience, enthusiasm, and willingness to invest their time into the next generation did not go unnoticed!

Was a great first day of camp. Let’s come back tomorrow and stack another brick. GO VAQUEROS!

Youth Football Camp Begins July 15!

We're excited to kick off another great Youth Football Camp on Wednesday, July 15!
- Check-In: 5:30 PM
- Camp Hours: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Please make sure all camp participants arrive wearing proper athletic attire and appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Parking Information:

Due to ongoing campus renovations and construction, we've included a map of the campus with this post. Parking on campus is first come, first served. If campus parking is full, the dirt lot behind the baseball field will be available for overflow parking. The entrance from that lot will be unlocked to provide easy access to camp. Please note that campers and families will need to walk from the dirt lot to the camp location.

Camp Location:

Camp will be held on the grass fields near the softball field, the same location as last year's camp. The Turf Complex is unavailable during camp hours due to scheduled use by our Men's Soccer program.

Parents and family members are welcome to stay and watch. If you plan on staying, we recommend bringing a lawn chair for your comfort due to us not having accessible bleacher seating. As always we can't wait to see everyone on July 15 for three great evenings of football, learning, and fun!

Today, we proudly celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices made by those who came before us, and America’s 250th Anniversary. As we gather with family, friends, and our community, let us remember the values that unite us as a nation.

From our Vaquero Football Family, we wish everyone a safe and memorable Independence Day. Whether you’re enjoying a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or spending time with loved ones, please celebrate responsibly and help keep our community safe.

We are grateful for all who have served and continue to serve our nation. Thank you for your sacrifice and commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish.
