Congrats to Feel Good Performance athlete Billie B! 3rd place in the RX division at silver state throw down!

Proof of concept. It’s a spring board on things to come.

Change is hard. Change looks nothing how we think it will. The language you use, the things you immerse yourself in, and the discomfort you feel are all signs that change is afoot. Show up ready to work and then get out of your own way.

WEIGHTLIFTING TECHNIQUE- THE 2ND PULL (1 min read)

These photos are in reverse chronological order (recent first). Take a look at 3 differences in these photos which were frozen at the exact same point in the power clean. These photos demonstrate improvement from a visual standpoint, but also had remarkably improved receiving positions (not pictured).

1) the lifter’s body in relationship to the bar. We can see a large improvement in regards to “keeping it close”. One of the biggest bad habits is “bumping” the bar to generate power, without emphasizing keeping it close. I prefer the approach of keeping the bar path as vertical as possible.

2.) the lifter’s engagement of their upper back, and in turn the height of the bar, as well as her back angle being more upright. This is two fold: a higher pull means less distance to travel to get under the clean, and their transition into the 3rd pull will be aided by more engagement of the traps and a more upright body position (actively pulling herself under the bar instead of just dropping and having it crash on her).

3) less ankle extension as we progress. As timing and pulling improve, we become less reliant on ankle extension to get the bar to its highest point. The longer we can keep our entire foot on the ground, the more force we can generate into the platform.

There are several cues we are using to reinforce this position. First, we coach the lifter to create tension in her back before lifting the bar off the floor and maintaining for as long as possible. We then tell the lifter to focus on getting her knees back and loading her posterior chain. Finally, we coach her to “row and pull high” simultaneously, thus not only utilizing the upper back to elevate the bar, but to continue to pull it close to the body and keep as vertical of a bar path as possible.

These cues are specific to the lifter, and what errors the coach perceives to be most likely cause a missed lift.

Just a little break down. IYKYK

I played softball and dance basically my whole life. That definitely means my favorite thing to train is lower body, though I do love me some shoulder movements. My reasoning for becoming a coach is because I’m passionate about overall health, longevity, wellness and I just love weightlifting. Some of my own goals include one day competing in a powerlifting competition and improving my heart and lung health. My hobbies include hiking, camping and anything with my dog really, haha. Some of my favorite personal things include basically any and all Marvel movies, true crime podcasts or shows and medical/doctor shows.

Hey everyone!

We will be adding dedicated breathwork classes (30 mins) in June. For those of you that have never experienced dedicated breathwork, it is one of the neatest body experiences ever. The best way I can explain it is like meditation and recovery rolled into one. For those of you that are adventurous, health-conscience, performance focused or looking to snap out of a funk; I couldn’t recommend a better fit.

We follow XPT breathing protocols, and I am a certified XPT performance breathing coach.

To celebrate the upcoming class additions, we will be offering a FREE 30 minute breathwork class this Friday, May 3 at 5pm. THIS IS NOT A WORKOUT, and will not require you to break a sweat or physically exert yourself. This will be focused on reducing our anxiety levels by down regulating our nervous system.

This event will be capped off at 12 people.

I often see posts about how it is important to support local businesses. I just want to show some gratitude for all of our group training and personal training clients for being so dedicated and working hard.

In the vast majority of other goods and service businesses, the transactions are roughly the same; a client pays and then their work is done, and the burden falls on the business to provide goods or service. However, in the fitness industry, no amount of money can offset the work required by the client to reach their goals. So for those of you that show up after your long work days, your weekends, or even holidays: thank you. It means everything. I hope that you feel like the amount of thought and effort we put into our sessions matches what you bring to the gym every day.

For those of you that are on the fence about joining a gym, improving your health, or just finding a new community. There will
undoubtedly be some discomfort, and there surely are countless other things you can spend your time and money on. Many of those other things can bring much quicker gratification. However, there is no replacement for the feeling of improving your well-being, and the return on investment is truly second to none.

Support local and support yourself!

I know there’s a crowd that isn’t a fan of New Years Resolutions. Why wait til the first of the year to make a change, right? Although I agree with that sentiment, I also think the gesture of drawing a line in the sand and making change is anything but arbitrary. If the changes stick, it doesn’t matter when we do it.

So I wanted to invite anyone who’s really wanting to make 2024 their year to follow us on Instagram for our 5 week program designed to help enact true change through addressing awareness, habits, and accountability. There will be goodies like recipes, home workouts, and other things like journalling prompts and mental exercises. 100% free and 100% useful!

Additionally, I am offering an introductory personal training package of 4 sessions for 100 dollars to the first 5 to sign up. And finally, any couples that sign up between now and the 15th will get a second membership for 1/2 off for the first month; that’s a 50 dollar value (first 5 couples only). HAPPY NEW YEAR.
