Just finished this tailor-fitted iqyax for a customer in Juneau. It was so much fun making a special present for a Coast Guard officer's 58th birthday. It was a gift from his wife, Nancy. Wow!
Matt, I hope you're going to have many wonder-filled adventures there in the waters around Juneau. Your iqyax is shipping out soon!
Proceeds go toward MakeAccess Iqyax Apprenticeships to support Unangax students.

A Greenland qajaq for Christmas?
Yes!!

We have three traditional West Greenland qajaqs that will be finished by December 25th.

One is a beautiful youth sized qajaq that we've named "Trinity" after the young student of the same name who built this qajaq's twin in our class.
Length = 15 ft. 2 in.
Width (beam) = 20 inches.
$2900

The second is a sleek and nimble performance qajaq.
Length = 17 ft.
Beam = 19 inches
$3600

The third is a high performance qajaq built here by Greenland National Qajaq Champion, Maligiaq Padilla. Maligiaq built this lovely creature with rolling in mind. Very fast and agile.
Length = 17 ft. 1 in.
Beam = 18 inches

Seven Unangax paddles being carved today and tomorrow. It's great to meet new friends, Jim, Donna, Kathleen, and Larry, and it's extra nice seeing our apprentices Samantha and Johnney again! Sam and Johnney just got in from Saint Paul Island, Alaska late last night, and they'll be here through Alaska Native Day at Fort Ross on the 18th.

A smattering of images from our current iqyax building class at the Spaulding Boatworks facility in Sausalito. Try to imagine the smells of yellow cedar, Stockholm pine tar, and salty sea air.
