MVP is starting our online classes!
Here's what you need to know:
Q: Where can I find the videos for classes?
A: Click on Groups and the. On the class you are attending, if you don't know which class you are in, you are more than likely in fire class, but feel free to shoot us a message to ask.
Q: What will be on the videos and when will they be posted?
A: Each class will be broken up into their own posts. Fire class will have their own post, Water class will have their own post, and Earth class will have their own post. All the material that each class will need to practice for the rest of the week can be found on their respective posts. We will be breaking everything down into short videos that the students can use as reference for the rest of the month. We will have all class videos posted by 12:00 Noon on Monday as well as follow up videos on Wednesday. These will be labeled as Main Video posts.
Additionally, there may also be a “most seen critique” or “frequently asked questions” post that will be posted on Tuesday and Thursday. This is a great place for any and all questions, comments, or concerns, and helps keep us from having to repeat the same things over and over which can easily cause confusion.
Q: What will students need to do?
A: If students have any questions they are more than welcome to post as much as they would like on the Main Video post. In addition to the Main Video post, there will be a specifically labeled post that is just for students to respond with video. Students will need to submit a short video of them performing the required material from that week, with no more that 3 video post made per student per week per required item. (Just to keep the page easier for the instructors to search through.) Instructors will respond back with any critiques or comments that we may have, so just practice, practice, practice until we say otherwise! We also ask that students look through comments and replies made by fellow students to keep from having too many repeat questions.
Q: How will Tip Test work?
A: This is a big question, with luckily a pretty simple answer. During tip test week, on Monday, we will post the requirements for each class's tip test. All the students will need to do is post themselves performing each of the requirements. We will let them know right when we see their post if they have passed of failed and what happens next. Students will have all the way until Sunday night at 6:15 pm to post themselves performing their tip test material.
Q: Are there any sort of time limits or restraints? How do these online classes differ from our in house classes?
A: Just think of the studio being open from 12:00 Noon until 6:15PM Monday-Thursday. Everything is pretty much the same, we are just open earlier for a little while! Although we will start and stop posting/commenting/replying during those times, you are more than welcome to keep messaging during a time that works best for you. We will respond back to you when we “open” again the next day.
Strange as it might seem, classes will not differ too much aside from constant dialogue face to face. We will show each student what to do, the student will usually then ask questions and perform the movements themselves, we will reply, and then they will show us again. This is the same for either in house or online classes. We really encourage students and parents alike to try and keep commenting and chatting open and consistent. Feel free to talk to each other! Ask each other questions. Video one another your own responses. But most of all, have fun and stay connected!
