What a weekend😔❤️🏁
Racing has a way of keeping you humble. Some weekends everything falls into place, and some weekends test your patience and determination. This was definitely one of those challenging weekends at Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series
Saturday:
The day started with some solid heat race performance, but the mains brought more than their share of adversity.
In the Heavy 160 B-Main, Colten started P6 and was running a strong race when contact from another competitor caused damage to the car. Despite bringing it to the pits for adjustments, the car was never quite the same afterward, making for a difficult finish.
Next up was the Heavy Honda A-Main. Starting P3, Colten was battling near the front of the field and looking strong. Unfortunately, while working through lap traffic, and he got tied up with the lapper ending our race early. That's a tough pill to swallow when you've got a car capable of running up front.
In the Heavy World Formula A-Main, Colten started P3. We fought a tight race car most of the event—something we've battled at KZOO before—and brought home a P5 finish.
Sunday:
We focused solely on the World Formula Mod. Colten started P6 in the heat race and worked his way up to P4. In the A-Main, we may have had the setup a little too loose, but for only his third Mod race, he did a great job gaining valuable experience and continuing to learn.
While the results don't always show it, we're proud of how Colten handled a weekend filled with challenges, including damage and incidents that were out of our control. Racing can be frustrating when your day gets cut short, but we will regroup, learn from it, fix what we can, and move forward.
Next up triple header at Michigan Motorsports Racing Association before heading back out for the next MWT at Mac O Chee in three weeks. We'll keep working, keep learning, and come back stronger.
