You don’t always have to fish a sink tip and a fly with a trailing hook on a shank when Skagit casting! We add an SHS Commando Floating Tip to the front of our Skagit Heads, and we have a little dry-line rocket 🚀 that rocks with both touch-and-go and Skagit-style cast. We had a really windy day on Sunday chasing summer steelhead, and with a 400 grain Commando Head with a 12’ 90 grain SHS Floating Tip we were able to fish this fly under a dry line all day on a 12’ leader. Super fun switching from Snake Rolls to Perry Pokes with no problem!

Sometimes, with a short head and a sink tip, you don’t even need to do an established spey cast! I’m not sure what you’d call this “technique”😆? Point is, it’s just fishing. So try and make it fun! Our lines and rods are designed to do just that.
