For a few years now we have partnered up with Autism Cares foundation to open our gym to them. Every month the young adults come and we put them through a boxing workout . The smiles on their faces and the smiles of their family members and caretakers is why we do it . We would like to thank Nick from 6ABC for doing a story on his segment of Hometown Heroes. Those kids are truly the heroes .

Thirty years ago, Mrs. Hand challenged Mr. Hand to give back to the community. He then started Joe Hand Boxing Gym and computer lab at Howard and Thompson streets. From there, they moved down to South Philly and back to North Philly to our present location in Feasterville. Many young kids walked in those doors, and many became champions. To this day, we still give back with classes for all people. This is half of our teen class. Mr. and Mrs. Hand are smiling down. Happy 30th, and we are not going anywhere because "The Best Is Yet To Come".

Today's highlight is Coach Vaughn "Triple V" Vanderslice. Vaughn is an amateur fighter from a pedigree family of champions. His great-uncle, former light heavyweight champion Tommy "The Philly Phantom" Loughran, is considered one of the greatest light heavyweights ever. His grandfather was a boxing champion in the Navy, and his dad, John, was a former sparring partner of Joe Frazier, among other champions. Coach Vaughn coaches our kids' classes for children aged 7-11 years old. He is also a former college football player. Vaughn is a great role model for the younger ones in class and a great asset to the gym.
