Tunnel to Towers 2026 🇺🇸

Less than 24 hours after finishing 26.2 miles at Trail Fest, I was back at another starting line.

This morning, I almost didn't make it there.

My legs were shot, and after walking downstairs once, I seriously considered staying home.

Then I saw the bib.

So I went to the station, grabbed my gear and a pack, and showed up.

I tried to run. My legs gave me about 200 yards before making it very clear that wasn't happening. 😂

So I adjusted and walked.

Then, with the fire trucks and honor guard lining the final stretch, there was no way I was walking across that finish line.

3.3 miles. 54:40. Pack on. Finished.

Today wasn't about pace or a finish time.

It was about showing up, honoring those who gave everything, and remembering why we were there.

For the 343 firefighters who never made it home, and for everyone we lost that day.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Trail Fest 2026. The result. 🥈

10 laps.
26.2 miles.
6:56:10.
Silver earned.

Not the race I pictured, but I accomplished what I came there to do.

And having my daughter there at the finish made this one that much better.

Trail Fest 2026 🌲

I went into yesterday with one goal: 10 laps. 26.2 miles. Earn the Silver pin.

The first few laps went according to plan. Then the cramps started, the pace slowed, and the second half became a lot more walking than running.

The plan had to change.

The goal didn't.

I kept moving. Fueled. Hydrated. Ran when I could. Walked when I couldn't. And kept going back out for another lap.

I crossed the line to start Lap 10 with just 1 minute and 20 seconds left on the 6-hour clock.

One more lap.

26.2 miles. 6:56:10. Silver earned. 🥈

It wasn't the performance I pictured going into the day, but that's endurance. Things don't always go according to plan. You adjust to what the day gives you and keep moving forward.

Huge thank you to Mike, Ken, everyone at Trail Fest and Tilden Hill Farm, the volunteers, and everyone out there putting in the miles.

Proud to have MF Legacy Fitness support this event and even prouder to have my daughter there waiting for me at the finish.

TRAIL FEST COURSE PREVIEW 🌲🏃

Got out to Tilden Hill Farm today with Mike, Ken, and my daughter to walk the full 2.62-mile Trail Fest loop before race day Saturday.

Here’s your first-hand look at what you can expect: wooded trails, some rooty sections, rolling terrain, and a course that’s going to get a whole lot more interesting as the laps start adding up.

I’ll be out there Saturday taking on the 6-hour challenge and chasing 10 laps for the 26.2-mile Silver pin.

This weekend is exactly why I train.

Not to live on chicken and broccoli forever.

Not to avoid pizza or a beer with people I care about.

I train so I can hike mountains, explore new places, split firewood, recover well, and make memories without feeling like I'm constantly starting over.

Friday was spent exploring a nature center and hiking a mountain.

Pizza.

A couple beers.

Great company.

Saturday was a different kind of workout.

A pile of firewood doesn't split itself. 🪓

Sunday was about recovery.

Walking the dogs.

Relaxing.

Getting ready for another week.

Fitness isn't about being perfect.

It's about building a body that lets you fully enjoy your life while still making progress toward your goals.

The key is earning that flexibility through consistent ex*****on.

Tomorrow it's back to work.

Week 22 starts for my accountability group.

Another week of training.

Another week of nutrition.

Another week of building better habits.

Fitness should add to your life.

Not take you away from it.

Today was an off day from the gym.

But I still got out on the kayak with my daughter and stayed active.

Nutrition wasn't perfect either, and that's okay.

That's why I stay disciplined the rest of the time.

One meal doesn't erase months of consistency.

One day doesn't define your progress.

Build habits that leave room for family, adventure, and making memories.

Then get right back to work tomorrow. 🧱
