Today's memory is a passing the torch memory. Here Sensei DC Tenney is tying on MJ Tenney orange belt. I had gone to second shift and Sensei Dc was the primary instructor for the dojo. He tied her new belt on as I had tied his. This is what it's about, Training people who then can go and invest in others.

As I look through Memories, I keep stopping at this picture of a young sensei DC. This picture is the martial artist I knew he would become peaking through. The picture is slightly off focus, he isn't in full uniform, But he has that look of focused determination. That is what I still see from him. Yes hebcan be a good, yes he would literally lick his opponent to get them to release him so could get a better hold, but he was determined.

On this Friends Friyaay Memory, I found a time warp to one of the first visits from long time friend of the WSMA Philip Lewis . Soke Lewis has been a friend, mentor, and Teacher of mine for a long time. He has made so many trips to Iowa to train me and our students. Always a good time.

Oh the reluctant ninja Sensei Spike Nuss. Tracy is one of those students who went from college student to student, to teacher to friend. He was am Anchor point for our Dojo. He was there to see DC grow from a spastic little boy ti a Sensei. He was there when we traveled to West Union for classes. he watched 20 year olds try to out spar Trinity Tenney, he was there when we opened the building on Main street, and helped get it together. He was a voice of reason, and held his own in pun battles. Spike knew when to be disciplined l, and when to let go. Training with Spike has truly been a joy, more so, doing life with Spike and watching him become a husband, teacher, father, and coach has been a great honor and privilege.

Here is a good pre-covid memory. Before we had to shut down for covid we had Thursday Night Sparring. We had some good bouts. It was a great time, with good people. At the end most of us hugged our partners. This picture is of me and Sensei DC Tenney working. Great Times.

While digging through memories to share, I found this. I'm not sure what is going on, except my kids grew up in the dojo. Dc had a lot of older brothers. We trained hard, amd we played hard.

One of the few pictures we have of the Fayette WSMA at the Fayette Community Church. This was 2008. The Church flooded and all the things from the Sunday School room in the basement had to come up to the fellowship Hall (Community Room) . Shortly after I moved classes to Upper Iowa University.

This picture is the mood. Its Sunday, go to Church and find rest in the Lord. Trinity Tenney was young, sitting next to her cousin Rayne Adams and a super young Onnie Tenney . I feel ya Trin... I feel ya.
