We hold the hard work of preparing horses and riders for their goals in high regard. Our goal is to share as much knowledge and experience possible to provide a safe and rewarding program for both horses and riders. We compete in home, local, regional, and destination horse shows as well as head-to-head scrimmages with other local and Collegiate teams. Our experience with college riders has helped
us develop a system and schedule to support priorities during the academic year and help reach goals and riding milestones throughout. For our younger riders, the knowledge of collegiate opportunities helps us share information with both riders and parents to determine the best track and investment in pre-college riding endeavors. We have been working with friends and referrals to rehabilitate, prepare for competition, and retire riding and show horses since 2003. Our facility is on 55 acres 10-15 minutes from Farmville and within an hour of Lynchburg to the West and Richmond to the East. We look forward to hearing from you to see if we might be a match for your horse and/or rider needs. We have professionals available offering instruction in hunter/jumper, equitation, and all disciplines of eventing: dressage/flatwork, showjumping, and cross country riding, Western Horsemanship, Ranch Riding, Trail, and Reining. WINTERHILLVA has a hands on approach to all programs and takes care to provide the very best for our horses. From retired racehorses to "special needs" horses who need more than a cookie cutter approach to a working horse show life, we use practical horsemanship to accomplish goals. Our students range from tiny tots, through grade school, high school, college and beyond. We have many horses from out of state who are retired show horses, and some who stay with us for some down time or training time before returning to their owners. Student-owned horses are supported with professional exercise or training rides built into their program to allow student riders to accomplish their academic goals as well as their riding goals. Horses are kept in shape, in training, and in good condition through rides, lessons, grooming, and grooming maintenance. We try to offer free or reduced rate after school programs for local horse lovers throughout the year. Riders who meet criteria for our Central Virginia Student Rider Club can join us for fundraising and philanthropy opportunities. Fundraising helps support student rider goals with a priority on safe essential rider equipment and events that offer the opportunity to pursue their development as horsemen and ambassadors for academic minded equestrian athletes.
