September can weigh heavy on my mind. It arrives tomorrow and next week, the anniversary of a series of events that changed the course of my life and everyone I know. And everyone they know. The world really.

Each year, our department has quietly organized a group workout to commemorate, reflect, remember, and feel a minute fragment of the pain of that day.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the "Day when the world stopped turning", Farmington Police Department, Farmington Fire Rescue, and MaineHealth EMS are hosting a 9/11 Stair Climb & Service Workout.

September 11. Meetinghouse Park (139 Main Street), Farmington. Start gathering at 8 a.m. to socialize and warm up. The workout is listed below. Weather and emergency calls allowing, the Stair Climb will be conducted on the Farmington Fire's Ladder 1. Start time is 8:46 a.m.

At the conclusion of the workout (goal is 9:11 am), Roderick-Crosby American Legion Post 28 - Farmington, ME Color Guard will present the flag. A few brief remarks followed by a moment of silence and playing of "Taps". A flag folding will be conducted to solemnly close the event.

We welcome those who wish to participate, watch, or encourage participants. All abilities welcome.
