What a great day yesterday! Thank you!!!
So many photos will be forthcoming. Here is one sent by our good friend Matthew Cappiello of the group photo after the presentations. Great to see Joel Harris called out given all his great work with photography over the years. And Eric Schwartz, Elizabeth Melillo-Paulson and Karyn Pesner were also so deserving!
There were many comments about what a great atmosphere we had yesterday. And how great was it to see Pat LaFontaine's grandchildren there? It was also special to hear from former NY Giant and 2x Super Bowl winner Perry Williams, 2x Super Bowl Champion as well as his teammate Sean Landeta, who also made an appearance yesterday. Having a Hockey Hall of Famer and 2 Super Bowl winners in the house, pretty cool. But more importantly, yesterday focused on the mission of Companions in Courage Foundation - helping patients in Children's Hospitals. And this is not possible without support from incredible sponsors like Runner's Edge NY, Brooks, Carman Callahan and Ingham, SterlingRisk, Horizon Paper, Dr. Larry Lembo, FalkBuilt, New York Islanders, NHL, Oyster Bay Brewing Company, McDonald's, Check Point Automotive, Stew Leonard's, and our good friends at Connoisseur Media of Long Island! And let's not forget the great team at RaceAwesome, who did a lot of work given the change in the course this year.
In addition, the Farmingdale Cross Country Team had 30 members take part thanks to support from Walter Priestley. And the Plainedge Cross Country Team had 13 participants thanks to support from Bill DaCosta from State Farm in Massapequa. It was also great to see Kiwanis make a donation to CiC yesterday.
The race has 355 registrants, exceeding last year's total. Tyler McPartland won the overall race in a time of 4:14. Laurel Fisher won for the women in a time of 4:57. Norbert Holowat won the wheelchair division in 4:21 followed by our good friend Peter Hawkins in a time of 4:23.
It was also quite a scene in the Village Green at the finish, where a number of booths were setup that included the NY Islanders, who also brought their mascot Nyisles along, Americana Architects, Brooks, Sport Coffee, and the NY Islander Booster Club. And thank you Nick Lalvani for setting up that cheering section on the course!
Finally - thank you to Amberly and the staff at The Tap Room Farmingdale for a great job yesterday!
By the way - we exceeded our goal for the raffle! A great way to start to the Labor Day weekend. Thank you all for the great support!
More photos coming!
