Mike living the Harambe life — leaping over roadblocks and crushing his goals. We are honored.
When I first started my fitness journey, people would tell me to find something that I could do consistently, and do that.
I used to love running. I would sometimes fun over 50 miles a week. I competed in multiple 5K, 10K, and even half marathon runs.
The picture below is one of victory. It was 2018. I was 42-years-old at the time. I just finished and placed 1st for my age group in, what would be, my last half marathon. I finished in under 2 hours. I do not remember my exact time.
Unfortunately, due to spine deterioration, I’m sure some form of damage to both knees, and sciatica, I can no longer run. I still miss it, but I will not just lay down and wait to decompose. I keep moving. I now walk instead of run. I get on an elliptical, and I ride my Peloton. I also do resistance training. I really love it. And I feel like, out of all the different exercises I have done throughout my life, my body has responded in the best way possible to this. It is intense, but variable resistance is a game changer and a joint saver. I love it!
