The first lottery for the 2026 deer firearm and muzzleloader season is open March 3 through April 30. The lottery is for Illinois residents only, and there is a limit of one application per hunter. Landowner deer firearm permit recipients are not eligible to apply for a firearm permit but may apply for a muzzleloader permit.
