I’m soooo incredibly happy with today’s race!! It was just over a minute away from an overall marathon PR for me and WAS a Grandmas Marathon PR for me by almost 2 minutes!!! (This was my 6th Grandma’s Marathon)
My Back Story: I’ve been running marathons for 16 years. This was my 28th marathon distance race. I have struggled the past 2-3 years to run as fast & as strong as previously and thought it must just be me getting older. But, after having a very low iron and ferritin level with no good explanation, I was referred for an EGD and discovered that I had an autoimmune condition that was preventing me from absorbing my dietary iron. So, I got my first iron infusion about a month ago. Since then, my running started to feel stronger and I was cautiously optimistic that today would result in a better race for me.
Needless to say, I am thrilled with this solid BQ and so happy that I am able to treat my newly diagnosed condition and return to feeling strong with my running again!!! 🙏🏃♀️😅💪💕🎉
Takeaway PSA: Please look after your health and be curious if things seem to be getting difficult more quickly than they should be.
Congratulations to all of the amazing runners that participated in Grandma’s Marathon Events and a huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers at these events!! 💕
Now…time to celebrate!!! 🙌 🎉🥳
