A method to the madness?
A few things to know before you climb!
All climbs have a designated start. Starts are marked with tape. Each strand of tape represents a starting hand position. This could be two separate holds marked by two separate pieces of tape. OR one single hold marked by two pieces of tape.
In order to "score" a valid attempt you must start properly. A proper start is considered as... grabbing the taped start position & leaving the ground. No part of you may touch the pads, here you must establish on the wall, meaning control, take a second or two (ideally 3) to show you have established control on the wall. Once control is established you will now travel to the finish. At Fargo Climbing we have two types of finishes... 1.) Taped hold 2.) Top of wall. If there is a taped hold you MUST finish there, if there is NO taped hold, you MUST finish at the top of the wall. Just like starting, finishing requires two hands & control.
While on your climb you MUST only use the designated color you are climbing, in this example it would be all orange holds. In addition to orange holds you are allowed to use the wall itself, features of the wall (aretes, dihedrals, etc) & all volumes. You may NOT use bolt holds. We didn't make the rules, we all just play by them!
