I looked the story up & it’s actually from 2019 but mostly true. The instructor defended the children practicing inside & kept the suspect busy until police arrived. Injuries occurred after he attacked police.

So shocked & saddened to learn of this. I had the great privilege of training with him when I visited my family in Richardson TX & when visited our dojo in Virginia His daughter attended college in my home town of Cape Girardeau, MO and we joked what a small karate world we lived in.

You will be missed.

The ITKF is deeply saddened by the passing of Sensei Brad Webb.

Interesting video. This seccade (rapid eye movement) and subsequent temporary “blindness” for 10 ms is the moment of attack in kumite. Create this with feigned motion. Get opponent to focus on one thing instead of “all things”. To avoid this trap, visualize opponent in full peripheral vision (see all and let muscle memory guide).
