Week 5 of 6 league took place last night, and the race for the championship is still anyone's game!

Standings before last night’s fun and friendly competition began:

🏆 Team 9 (Derek Cookson, Cooper Cookson & Mark Cookson) leads the league with 25 points. 3 Generation Team…Very cool stuff!

🎯 That’s a wrap on our Fall .22 League!

Last night we celebrated the end of another great six-week season with our Fall .22 League banquet.

Everyone rolled in around 5:00 for one last evening of fun with their plinkers — and we stretched things out a little! Some youth shooters hitting at 500 yards, and one talented adult ringing steel all the way out to 600 yards with their .22s! 🎯

By the way, at 500 yards last night the hold was 40.5 feet over the target and 10” left, and at 600… it was 65 feet! That’s a lot of “dope” dialed into a scope, along with some KANSAS windage… which is similar to Kentucky windage, but for men without hair buns!

Once the smell of gunpowder started to fade, everyone headed to The Last Shot for some of Chef Phil’s heavy appetizers and our awards ceremony.

A BIG thank-you to everyone who participated in this fall’s league, and an especially big shout-out to our 11 youth shooters who showed up every Wednesday evening for the past six weeks. We love seeing the next generation enjoying the shooting sports, learning, improving, and having a whole lot of fun along the way.

Now it’s time to return to our regularly scheduled programming…

BIRD HUNTING — on a BIG scale!

But we’ve got a feeling there will be some serious new plinkers getting built in garages and gun rooms over the coming fall and winter. After all, Spring .22 League is only about eight months away! 😎

If you remember, Jaci, our youngest and cutest youth shooter, who handles her PINK plinker extremely well from a post a couple weeks ago… Last night she celebrated a very special birthday with us, she even shared cookies after the banquet with everyone.

October 2–4 is shaping up to be one heck of a weekend at Flint Oak, and Mother Nature apparently got the memo! ☀️ Forecasted highs in the mid-70s, cool mornings and evenings…just about perfect shooting weather.

🎯 2026 WILDCAT CUP 200 & MAKE-A-BREAK WEEKEND

We’ll have FOUR Make-A-Breaks running Friday through Sunday, with daily and weekend purses and more than $5,000 in guaranteed MAB payouts!

Bring the 20 and 28 gauges too…our 50-target small ga. sporting courses will be open, along with Super Sport throughout the weekend.

Our Main Event features 200 targets over a 13-station sporting layout, spread across the beautiful Flint Oak countryside. Bring your golf cart or UTV, this one covers some ground!

🎯 SIX WEEKS — IN THE BOOKS! 🎯

Last night we wrapped up the competition portion of another fantastic Flint Oak .22 League!

Next Wednesday, all our shooters return for one final night of FUN — stretching those little .22 plinkers out on steel targets from 50 yards, all the way to 500 yards before heading to The Last Shot for our awards banquet and some fantastic food created by Chef Phil and his talented team! 👨‍🍳🏆

One of the best parts of this league has been watching so many young shooters step to the line, learn, compete, improve and — most importantly — HAVE FUN!

Here are a couple of our young guns doing exactly what they came to do… Sending lead downrange! 💥🎯

The future of the shooting sports looks pretty darn good in SE Kansas from where we’re setting at the bench’s !

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS… 🐾

This morning, Flint Oak officially kicked off our 48th hunting season!

5 guides.
5 Suburbans.
5 dog trailers.
22 dogs.
3 hunters in each rig.
17 sh***uns.
48 boxes of sh***un shells.
27 Snicker candy bars.
1.8 gallons of coffee.
36 bottles of water.
27 cans of Pepsi products.

And just like that…we loaded up, pulled out and headed to the field for the first morning of another eight-month Flint Oak hunting season!

SEASON 48 IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY!

Cheers 🍺 to a safe, successful and enjoyable season ahead for our guests, guides, dogs and the entire Flint Oak crew.
