What is it about, open mat? Is it just another class? Another repetition of training? Practicing for our next promotion?...

What is it about, open mat? Is it just another class? Another repetition of training? Practicing for our next promotion? The answer is none of the above.

While typical evening classes focus on technique followed by drill and kill, and repetition. Open mat focuses on fundamentals. It answers: what is missing from my technique? Why is this not working when Uke is uncooperative?

Open mat is void of the typical curriculum. It seeks to refine and ultimately perfect those little nuances in waza that cannot be isolated in the traditional class.

We should be seeing many more students, from all disciplines from Kenshin Martial Arts These opportunities can bring training and technique to the next level. All are welcome and encouraged.
