Been a fun spring so far. The steelhead season is slowly winding down here in Erie, still hoping to see some more new fish in Ohio yet but Im not holding my breath. Heres a few pics of fishing this past month. Stripping streamers has been really good on the warmer days, an olive slumpbuster has been the hot fly for me lately. Smallmouth will soon start to make their appearance in the tribs. Good luck to everyone still getting out there.

This fall has been a bit of a grind with the lack of fish numbers compared to normal, but we continue to put fish in the net. It can be humbling to the anglers who have only experienced the phenomenal, big number fish days. We have all taken the fishery for granted over the years. After all, it is fishing and many things like weather, water and fish numbers are out of our control. Working for them just makes you a better fisherman.

Looks like we are iced up for quite sometime here in Erie but good news is you can still catch steelhead in lots of places through the ice.

Here is long time clients and friends Greg and Ian enjoying a day on the water in snowy December conditions. Lots of fish to hand.

Looking forward to the spring thaw. Call to get in on the action. 814-392-2922.

Always a great time fishing with these ladies. They braved temps in the teens and slushy water in hopes to get ahold of some steelhead. Fishing was tough with all the slush and ice but we had fun and caught some nice fish.

First time steelheaders Missy and Whit ventured to Erie a few weeks ago before we got hit with 5+ feet of snow. They hit conditions perfect and may have got spoiled for their first time. They both did an excellent job and put a ton of fish in the net. The fish were definitely in transition mode and the smaller pocket water/runs was the place to be.

We have been canceling trips since the storm hit and have already canceled through the weekend. Definitely eager to get back out there but safety is first, and the lake shore of Erie got hit with maybe the most impressive snowfall I will ever witness.

We will most likely see a massive blowout once warmer weather and rain comes.

Erie, PA stream update:
The conditions are the worst I have ever seen in my 38 yrs living here. First pic is upper legion on Elk where Halls run dumps in, Halls run is dry. Next pics are lower elk above Rt 5 tube. The fish that are in the creeks are either in stagnant slow pools facing downstream or in riffle water with their backs out. It is currently 80 degrees here in Erie. We have no substantial rain scheduled this week. Leaves are covering the dry creekbed. Not good folks. I’d recommend fishing the lake if you’re in dire need to catch a steelhead or find something else to do.
