Our inaugural season of Cottreall-Warner Post 942 American Legion baseball came to an end in the state tournament after dropping the quarterfinal game on Monday at RIT. Game 1 saw Hamburg Post put up 15 runs on 14 hits 🤯 in one inning, resulting in a 15-2 loss. In Game 2 CW bounced Hillcrest Post 12-5. Game 3 was a pitcher’s duel, with Clinton County coming out on top 2-0. For the tournament, CW was led by Tyler Estelle (5/9, 3R), Dylan Dumont (4/8, 2RBI), Sam Nick (4/10, 4R, 4RBI), and Garrett McNeil (3/9, 2RBI). Dumont (6IP, 5H, 0ER, 6Ks), Jake DiCicco (6IP, 11H, 4ER, 7Ks), and Chase Sackett (2IP, 0H, 0ER, 2Ks) were great on the mound. With most of the roster eligible to return next season, the team is excited to defend its District 7 Championship and compete again for a state title.

After taking a gut punch losing game 1 in 9 innings 4-1, Cottreall-Warner takes game 2 6-5 and game 3 7-5 to claim the District 7 American Legion Championship over Chili Post. There were a number of special plays and great performances during the 3 game series. Nick Rene (6/10, 2R, 3RBI) took home the MVP. Dylan Dumont (5/11, R, 2RBI) and Sam Nick (4/10, 3R, 2RBI) also led the offense. Adam Petrella (7IP, 2H, 1ER, 9Ks), Dumont (6IP, 7H, 3ER, 7Ks), and Chase Sackett (6IP, 9H, 3ER) had great starts. Alex Grejda and Connor Smith picked up big outs in relief and got saves in both wins. The team heads to states on Saturday at RIT, hosted in Rochester for the first time in 100 years.

With some of our graduating Canal Dogs 🐕 hanging up their cleats after next spring’s Varsity season, other seniors will continue playing next summer with our 2026 graduates on an American Legion team as well as competing in a handful of showcase/tournament events. While we are excited to continue with our core group of players next season for Canal Dogs National 17U, we are even more excited to announce that there will be a Fairport Canal Dogs 12U team launching for the 2025 season 🤯

Age Group: 12u (Cannot turn 13 on or before 5/1/2025)
· The focus of the 2025 team will be to expose Fairport 12u Baseball players to a higher level of baseball in a competitive tournament environment.
· This team will have opportunities for off-season training, spring/summer practices, and tournament play.
· Participation on this team will not interfere with Little League or MCBR.

It’s hard to put into words how special this group is. After a turbulent offseason with some very late defections, there was a short period of time where we weren’t sure we’d be able to field a team this season. Fast forward 12 months and these guys finish up in legendary fashion, scoring 14 straight runs after falling behind 6-0 early to win NY Open over HV Select National. 10 guys fully dedicated to each other, playing the game the right way, for the right reasons. They put in the work over the years, they learned how to compete, they bought in to something bigger than themselves, and ultimately learned how to win as a TEAM. They are one of a kind 🐕

Another doubleheader sweep for the Canal Dogs 🐕 with wins over Accelerate Elite and Lake Sharks. Dominant performances on the mound from Alex Grejda (3IP, 0H, 5Ks), Tyler Gordner (3IP, 2H, 3Ks) and Pat Lindquist (1IP, 0H, 1K). The offense was cooking, led by Drew Gropp (4/6, 6RBI), Lindquist (3/4, 4RBI), and Garrett McNeil (2/3, 5R). Nick Rene, Matt Swann, Pete Hoffman, Grejda, and Sam Ostrander each collected 2 hits as well. The team finishes up their season on Sunday in the championship game.

Canal Dogs 🐕 go 2-0 on the day , winning 12-3 over CNY Soldiers and 6-1 over Watson Elite. Pete Hoffman (4/4, 3RBI, 4R) and Garrett McNeil (3/6, 3RBI, R) sparked the offense. Chase Sackett (4IP, 2H, 1ER, 6Ks), Nick Rene (6.1IP, 7H, 1ER, 6Ks), and Alex Grejda (2.1IP, 0H, 1ER, 2Ks) were dominant on the mound. The team finishes up pool play Saturday night with another doubleheader.

Canal Dogs 🐕 finish up with a 12-2 win over Mad Baseball 17U, ending the weekend 3-1. Alex Grejda (2IP, 1H, 0ER, 2Ks) to Tyler Gordner (2IP, 4H, 1ER, 1K) on the mound. Offensively, Sam Ostrander (2/2, 2RBI), Nick Rene (1/2, RBI), Grejda (1/2, 2R), and Drew Gropp (1/1, 2R) led the way. Despite the lopsided games on Sunday, it was good to play some games in front of our fans in Rochester.

Canal Dogs 🐕 with a gritty 2-0 win over the Webster Warthogs Nick Rene went the distance, allowing 1 hit while striking out 5. Chase Sackett (2/3) had a leadoff single in the 5th, followed by a Matt Swann (1/2) single and Pete Hoffman sac fly to score the insurance run and secure the victory in the pitchers duel.

Canal Dogs 🐕 pick up a win over Smash It Sports Sova 14-4 in the first game Garrett McNeil (3/4, RBI, 3R), Alex Grejda (3/3, 5RBI), Pat Lindquist (2/2, 4RBI), and Pete Hoffman (2/2, 2RBI) led the attack.

In game 2, Nate VandeVoorde (5IP, 0ER, 8Ks) and Adam Petrella (1IP, 0ER, 2Ks) combined for the second no hitter in as many weeks, but the team lost the game to the Phantoms 1-0. Grejda and Tyler Gordner each had two hits in the loss.

Exciting weekend in Staten Island as Canal Dogs National gets swept on day 1, but responds on day 2 with a no hitter and a tie against a nationally ranked team.

Game 1 - 13-0 loss to NJ Rising Rebels 🤢 Pat Lindquist 2/2.

Game 2 - 4-1 loss to TKR Reds. Dylan Dumont 7IP, 4ER, 7Ks. Adam Petrella 2/3.

Now for the good stuff….

Game 3 - 3-0 win over TBT Ballers. Chase Sackett (6.2IP, 0H, 6Ks) to Tyler Estelle for the last out of a combined NO HITTER 👀 Pat Lindquist 2/3, 2R.

Game 4 - 4-4 tie against nationally ranked Canes Tri-State. Adam Petrella 4.1IP, 3H, 0ER, 3Ks. Max Caron 2/4, 4RBI, including a clutch 3 run HR with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning 🤩 (video)
