A championship isn’t the only measure of a season. Sometimes the greatest victory is becoming the kind of teammate, competitor, and person who is ready to come back and chase it again. Some of our guys will be chasing success on the diamond next spring in college and high school, while others will be moving on from the game, but in both cases we are confident that the American Legion baseball experience has better prepared them for those challenges. We are grateful for the Veterans at Cottreall-Warner Post 942 for their sponsorship and support, as well as the volunteers who run District 7, NYS, and the State Tournament, and we are looking forward to running it back to defend our back to back D7 titles and finish the job at states in 2027.

Had our chances, came up a bit short.

Cottreall-Warner Post 942 (20-7) staved off elimination and forced a winner-take-all game on Wednesday morning, but Kingston-Saugerties Post (24-9) used five runs in the top of the tenth inning of the deciding game to break a 4-4 tie and pull away to a 9-6 win in the final game of the New York State...

After dropping a tough one last night 5-3 to Kingston (Nick Rene 3/4, HR, 2R, 2RBI), Cottreall-Warner got back in the winning column today against Hillcrest 15-3. Jake DiCicco threw a complete game, scattering 9 hits while allowing 2ER and striking out 3 batters. Conor Forkey (2/3, triple, HR, 2R, 3RBI), Garrett McNeil (3/4, 2R), and Henry Shutts (2/3, R, RBI) led the offense. The team advanced to the Championship round on Wednesday where they will need to beat Kingston twice to capture the state title. First game 10am at Penfield HS.

Cottreall-Warner Post 942 will face undefeated Kingston/Saugerties Posts 150/729 in Game 14 of the 2026 Department of New York American Legion Baseball Senior Division Championship Tournament.

Because this is a double-elimination tournament, Cottreall-Warner must defeat Kingston/Saugerties twice to claim the championship. A Cottreall victory in Game 14 would force a winner-take-all Game 15 later that day. A Kingston/Saugerties victory would secure the state title.

Bottom of the 7th. Down 4-2. Down to our last strike. Sam Roselli on second base. Garrett McNeil at the plate. Volume 🆙 Cottreall-Warner ties it in the 7th, then wins in walk off fashion in the bottom of the 11th on a Forkey HBP to move to 2-0 in the American Legion State Tournament. 15 players played, 15 players contributed to the win. Tyler Estelle (3/6, R, RBI), Roselli (3/5, R, 2RBI), McNeil (2/5, HR, 3RBI), Brady Sayers (2/5, R) all came up clutch. Roselli to Shutts to DiCicco to Smith to Gordner on the mound, holding the undefeated Hamburg Post team to just 7 hits. Back at it Monday night at 5pm in Penfield!

Sam Roselli (3/4, HR, 3R, RBI) and Garrett McNeil (3/4, HR, 2R, 4RBI) helped Cottreall-Warner defeat the Utica Blue Sox 11-5 in the first round of the American Legion State Tournament. Dylan Dumont got the start, going 4 innings, allowing 2ERs while striking out 4. Connor Smith was great in relief again, throwing 2 clean innings. Game 2 is Sunday at 2:30pm against Hamburg Post.
