2020 Player Spotlight: Liam Brunskill

To say that Liam has the heart of a lion is an understatement. He plays with passion and plays a lot bigger than he is. Liam has played middle linebacker for us as well as offensive line. Don't let his size fool you. Liam hits as hard as anyone and is always willing to make the big tackle. He often time is playing vs boys twice his size and often times wins the battle. Liam has been playing football for several years and when he came to us from the other C team 2 years ago, we were very excited.

Liam is also an outstanding lacrosse and basketball player. He plays on travel teams and is a committed athlete. He is very agile and aggressive which makes him a good football player. The best thing about Liam is that is has a great attitude and an open mind. Last year we put him on the line because of his toughness and he stepped right up and filled a role that was needed. Liam can play many positions, but I feel that linebacker is his future.

Liam's dad Aaron is one of our volunteer coaches. He has committed many hours to his son and our team over the past several seasons. I appreciate these two guys a lot and cant wait for our last year together.

2020 Player Spotlight: Troy Sanchez

Troy started his football career in 2017 at age 8 on C team. He has since moved up the ranks playing 2 years of B team and now on to A team. Early on Troy earned the name Pitbull because of his never give up attitude. Troy is always up for a challenge and never backs down.

Troy has played corner and receiver in his career. Although he says he likes playing corner best, Troy averaged 65 yards per catch last year :) He almost got his first touchdown against Hamlin but came up a few yards short. I am sure he is gunning for one this year. Troy is an excellent blocker on the edge and does play a lockdown corner.

Troy is a Dallas Cowboys fan and loves his Mamma fried chicken and bacon. Troy's dad Rich is a coach for our team and his mom Tracy is the team cookie maker!

With his dedication to the game and his willingness to learn, Troy will be a valuable asset for Fairport football for many years to come. I am looking forward to our last season together.

2020 Player Spotlight: Dean Blanchard

Mean Dean AKA Dean the Machine is entering his 5th year of football. Dean played 2 years in the flag program before joining the ranks of tackle. Dino is a true student of the game. Dean is one of the most coachable kids on the team and Is always looking for feedback to improve. I always notice that when a coach is talking in practice or on ZOOM, he is always dialed in and learning. Dean is usually the first one to correct me during a practice or game if I get a play call wrong. Many times he has said, "coach you cant run this play to that side" . Most of the time he is right :)

Dean has come a long way during his 2 years of tackle football. He has great hands as a receiver and has gotten a lot tougher with his tackling. He never back down from a challenge in practice and is always working hard.

Dean has great choice in his NFL football team the Buffalo Bills, and he love spaghetti and meatballs. I am looking forward to my last year with Dean before he heads to modified.
