Congratulations on a record setting year Delta Waterfowl! GameWay Rod & Gun Club has been proud to partner with you since 2022 by hosting NC State students as part of Delta’s groundbreaking University Hunt Program. Each opening day of the NC waterfowl season in November, GameWay has fed, lodged, and most importantly, hunted NC State wildlife students on GW’s famous duck farm in Hyde County, NC. This is many of these young students’ first ever duck hunt. In partnership with Delta’s Chris Williams, the current students and future wildlife management professionals are taken through a whole months-long hunter education program, from gun safety and shooting, to ecology, habitat and conservation, to hunting tradition and techniques, to hunting and harvesting the birds, to finally cleaning and preparing the ducks to eat. It is a life and perspective changing experience for these young men and women who will be pivotal in drafting and enforcing waterfowl regulations for the coming generation. The students depart their GameWay experience understanding that duck hunters are the good guys and sincere conservationists with whom they should partner to most effectively manage the ducks we all love.
