Today we ran the same curriculum we teach our youngest players — but for a professional international basketball player.

Same concepts. Same progressions. Same standard.

Scoring through contact. Beating the primary, gap, and help defender. Then got a ton of shots up.

That’s how you know the curriculum is real. It doesn’t change based on who’s in the gym. Coach B brought his professional playing experience to go along with our philosophy on how we design drills.

Don’t just be open. Be helpful.

This is what we worked on today — moving toward the ball when you catch so you’re outside the defender’s feet and already at an advantage before the play develops.

Then reading the help defense to know exactly where to attack and which bailout to use.

Most players stand and wait. Elite players move to get open and put themselves where their teammate can actually find them.

That’s the difference between being open and being usable.

Two bailouts. Two reads. One right decision.

Worked with Max today.

Senior at Balboa High School in San Francisco.

We focused on pace and same foot same hand finishing. Mid range is automatic. Body is strong and he’s still got more growing to do.
