The Fairfield Tennis Club would like to recognize two amazing women in our local Tennis community that we have lost recently.

These two women worked together for years to help grow the sport of tennis in Fairfield. As well as shape the lives of young athletes through the Fairfield Tennis Club's summer programs.

They had a true love for the game, while showing so many that tennis is a life long sport. For years after they retired you could still find them at the courts playing the game they enjoyed with their friends.

We are so thankful to have had the pleasure of having these two women in our community and we are keeping all of their family and friends in our prayers.

Jane had been the head coach of the girls and boy’s tennis teams at Fairfield Community High School for 7 years. She loved her job as coach. She became a member of the retired teacher's association in Fairfield. According to her family, she was a great wife, mother, cook, and golfer, as her and Jerry loved to play in golf tournaments.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Best and her daughter Jillian Best, both of Fairfield, two sisters Beverly Johnson and Carolyn Johnson both of Oshkosh, WI, a brother David (Jennifer) Johnson of Fairfield, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Don Johnson.

Lisa will play for the consolation semifinal tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. if she wins she'll advance to the medal match for 5th/6th place.

She had three big wins today in the backdraw. I know there's been a lot of questions around how big this bracket is (yes it is big) and how it works but now that we're down to the finalist hopefully it makes sense so you can see it on one page.

10/20/2023

Lisa will start at 8am in the morning playing the third set against her opponent for third round at state.
