Thank you so much for sharing this . One of the things I miss most about Doris was her hugs. She gave the best hugs! Doris would come to my studio( even with her cane later on) and open the door and yell, “HELLO GORGEOUS “ and give me the biggest hug. Doris was such a delight, such a gift and an incredible mentor. ❤️

My mentor and friend, Doris Pasteleur Hall, has passed away this weekend. Doris was a force and an absolute joy. Her laughter was infectious and her drive was so inspiring. I won the lotto the day I picked Movements Afoot studio for my certification program and got to learn from Lesley and Doris. I am grateful to these women who ignited my inner curious nature on all things movement but also taught me to trust my inner gut. Luckily, Doris stuck with me in Connecticut after my NYC years. I have had the privilege of her guidance for so many years and also a wonderful friendship that I will always cheerish. Doris never stopped exploring, learning and teaching. May we all continue to be curious and dig deeper. I will keep you with me always. I love you so much Doris XOXO

Trunk support is needed to move and stay upright, while side bending and forward flexion are needed to pick things up from the ground, and rotation [helps you] roll out of bed or turn to look behind you.

Oblique muscles help your body move from side to side. They play a big role in strengthening your lower back and improving your posture. Within this muscle group, you have two groups of oblique muscles: internal obliques and external obliques. They both play an incredibly important role in maintaining healthy posture.

Don’t forget to utilize all those trunk muscles because they are a crucial component to how well you move in day to day life activities.
