Throwing it back to ’90s New Jersey collegiate wrestling. 🤼‍♂️

From bitter rivals to brothers.

Years ago, Rick Gonzalez of Kean College and Johnny “J-Rock” Johnson of TCNJ went to absolute war on the mat. Two top-tier competitors representing two powerhouse programs of the era, they left everything out there—pushing each other to the absolute limit on their journeys toward becoming All-Americans.

But the same battles that once divided them ultimately forged an unbreakable bond.

Wrestling is a unique beast. It puts you through the fire with someone until you realize the guy across from you is exactly the person you want in your corner for life. It takes a special kind of respect to look at the competitor who pushed you the hardest and realize he became the person you trust the most.

Proof that the greatest victories in sports aren’t always the titles. Sometimes, it’s the lifelong brotherhood you build along the way.

Then: Fierce rivals.
Now: Close friends with a legendary bond.
