Tango Iowa Workshops with Gaston Olguin Sept 1-15 Fairfield Iowa Gaston Enqique Olguin is a professional Tango dancer & teacher who has performed & taught workshops So – bring your mind and your body!

Gaston Enqique Olguin trained as a dancer from childhood and at age 14 joined the professional folkloric dance company Araucán where he began his lifelong commitment to tango training.

“A pivotal point in my dance career took place in 2002, when I trained in classical ballet and elongation biomechanics with Alfredo Gurquel (1926-2014). From him I learned body awareness and biomechanics, and how

both allow us understand our movements from muscles and joints.”

Gaston subsequently studied ballet and performed the classical ballet repertoire with the Cecilio Pagano dance school and the prestigious Ballet Neoclásico de Buenos Aires. Since 2008 Gaston has focused on Tango and has developed his own approach to teaching that is grounded in a deep understanding of biomechanics as the foundation for fluid and balanced movement.

“It’s simple! We should all dance tango in ways which arise from our bodies’ natural movements, using good posture, and with each of us having a deep, physical, understanding of our own bodies. ‘Biomechanics’ enables us to know our muscles and our bones and helps them to come into sync!”

“In my workshops, I will be using a sequence of interesting and enjoyable exercises which will enable you to appreciate the truth of these ideas. Once you understand this technique, you will find that it will help your dance to evolve every day.”
