I’ve been doing some experimentation with our cycle class programming. Two weeks ago we implemented an all in the saddle RIDE and it was wildly well received. We are working at a lower cadence set and working seated the whole time. It’s more challenging than it sounds but also it lands in your physiology differently. In our usual programming we are doing a lot of intervals and plenty of them are sending your into the anaerobic zone - which has its benefits BUT one of the reactions in your body is the release of stress hormones. The seated ride is designed to limit those anaerobic spikes, focusing more on form, alignment, connection and using a heavier load.
Tomorrow our power RIDE will be hill climb focused with a mix of in and out of the saddle work. We will do some moderate to high paced flush outs and PLENTY of heavier loading and strength work. Also designed to limit the stress response in your body.
