Northern Virginia Senior Softball “You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing”. Average age is 65. Not a try-out. Everyone present bats; 11 play defense.

For fun, fitness, and friendship, open to men 50+ and women 40+, join Northern Virginia Senior Softball (NVSS) to play two slow-pitch doubleheaders on Tuesday & Thursday mornings. Summer Season runs from mid-April through July; Fall Season is played in September and October. Placement on a team in one of 3 skill-level conferences is based on skills and capabilities. Due to the high heat index forecast for tomorrow's games, we areinvoking the excessive heat procedure for tomorrow’s doubleheaders. First game will start by 9 am, with batting practice starting by 8:30.

No new inning may start after 10:15. For the second game, no new inning may start after 11:45.

There will be a five run limit per half inning, until the final inning, which as usual will be unlimited.

If both managers agree before the start of each game, games can be shortened to five innings.

Remember to start hydrating today.

Earlier this year, NVSS members were notified of the passing of long-time member Fred Felber. Fred would have been 90 year old this month.

The family wants members to know that there will be a Celebration of Life for Fred on August 30th, at 11:00 am, at Hope Lutheran Church, 4604 Ravensworth Road in Annandale.

This will be an informal gathering of family and friends. Please feel free to take part in the celebration of Fred's life.
