Happy Friday, fam ❤️
Even after working my ass off today—a full day and then some—I still find myself feeling incredibly blessed.
Today, especially, I’m remembering all those who lost their lives on 9/11, the families whose lives were changed forever, and all those who sacrificed their lives in the years that followed while fighting to protect our country and prevent something like that from happening on our soil again. 🇺🇸
Sometimes it feels like our country is so divided. Right vs. left. One side against the other.
But on that day, we were one.
We were Americans. We mourned together. We prayed together. We stood together. We were neighbors looking out for neighbors.
I was in 11th grade, in Vo-Tech for computer repair, working on my A+ certification. I can still remember my teacher rolling the TV into the classroom after the first tower was hit. Then we watched the second plane hit the other tower on live television. Then came the Pentagon.
I remember worrying about my mom and dad, who worked for the IRS downtown. I remember not knowing what was happening, not having answers, and honestly not fully understanding what we were witnessing.
But I remember.
Tonight, I’m thankful for my life. I’m thankful for my freedom. I’m thankful for my family. And I’m thankful for every first responder, service member, and everyday American who has sacrificed for this country.
I just wish we could find more of that unity again—not because of another tragedy, but because we remember that at the end of the day, we are neighbors and fellow Americans.
Thank God for our heroes. Thank God for those who sacrificed it all.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸❤️
