Senior Spotlight 2026! 🎓
Peter has been on the team for 2 years at CMU, starting in Fall 2024. He graduated with a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
• What are your post-grad plans?
updating my status from “Student” to “Unemployed” on my tax forms. I am currently back in Massachusetts living at my parent’s house lol.
• Why did you join rowing?
I had an internship at a maritime robotics company and we would go out on the water in motor boats to perform tests. I grew up next to the ocean and it reminded me how much I love being on the water, so when Mr Thomas O’Brian asked me on the cut to join crew I jumped at the opportunity to say “no thank you” and walk towards the UC before turning around to ask if they were still doing 5AM practices (they were) but this time I really wanted to be on the water so I joined anyway. Very good decision, I wish I had joined earlier.
• What made you keep showing up?
a few reasons: I loved being on the water. Rowing in the morning helped me stay focused during the day. It provided a wonderful community, I loved talking with everyone on the team. I was only able to showing up to the 5AM practices because I had to drive people. I would sleep through every single one if I was not responsible for other people.
• What’s your favorite memory on the team?
I really enjoyed driving people, it was like locking an audience in my car that had to listen to my jokes. and Camp Bob.
• What is your favorite boat to row in?
Coxing the women’s boat is great, they would let me tell jokes. The men’s boats were scary to cox frfr. For rowing, I really liked any of the boats that were well set (and then I would rush the f**k out of the slide)
• If you were given the chance, what piece of advice would you give your younger self who just joined the team?
“Join the team earlier. You already joined it too late? Bruh.”
• Anything you want your little(s) on the team to know?
Mr. Zeeshan, I hope you keep going to practice and stay in the team. This team is a really special group of people at CMU.
Congratulations Peter 🎉 Best of luck for the future ⭐️!
