Spending time at maman with Entreprenista and Entreprenista League Community recently fueled me in a way I can’t describe. I spent the afternoon with other badass female founders who are making waves in their industries and doing it with heart. They all have a story to tell that goes beyond the typical trajectory (like me!) which makes what they’re building all the more impactful. Grateful to have found this community, especially as I build out my own community of high achievers who are trying to do it all and who struggle to feel like any of it is being done well. Want in? Yesterday was something else.
I spent the afternoon at in DC with a group of female founders through and I left genuinely energized. Like, REALLY energized.
These women don’t network. They just show up as themselves. No performance, no pitch. So refreshing! Just real humans who happen to be building incredible things and modeling what it looks like to have a career and a life.
For those of us who left successful corporate careers to design something better? Finding this room I’ve been looking for really struck me.
Huge thank you to for making it happen. And to everyone I met, you reminded me exactly why I do this.

Somewhere along the way, many of us leaned that being “good” meant being available to everyone at all times. Especially parents. Especially leaders. But constantly abandoning yourself to prove your value isn’t leadership. It’s depletion! The irony is that the people most afraid of being selfish are usually the least selfish people. Taking care of yourself doesn’t make you less caring. It allows you to actually show up with patience, presence, energy, and intention. You are allowed to matter, too.

My daughter greeted me after school with this art for my she shed office. She told me she’s been watching what I do for people. Sometimes she hears snip-its of conversations. Sometimes she asks me about my day. But she’s watching in a way I’m not sure even I realized. So she did some research, found this quote and painted. Our children are watching us on a level we don’t even understand. I am beyond grateful that almost 4 years ago I made a choice. I chose to live life differently. Yes - that meant leaving a steady paycheck, an amazing company and a rockstar team who made me look good every day. It also meant leaving a calendar that was never my own, meetings that made me cringe, and stress that was more than any body (and anybody) could handle long term. It meant going back to school AGAIN to build upon my expertise. I’ve built a career around helping working parents who lead at work and at home. I support them in better navigating the pressures they’re getting from everywhere so they can have more success (their version!) with less stress. I’ve started an online virtual community for people in that boat, trying to do it all and knowing there has to be a better way. Do you want to join us? 50 feet in the air, shaking, wanting to quit. And then I realized I was the one making it hard. We do this SO much! We decide things are hard before we even begin. Where are you doing the same thing? (By the way, I made it across and decided I was going to have fun doing it - and, it was a freaking blast, just like when I was a kid!)
