John Lynn shared a local Spokane dive spot at Boulder Beach. Max depth around 30’ and water temp was between 38-40F.

Dive Report: 18 June 21, 0900.

Site: Lake Pend O'Reille, Trestle Creek Boat Launch area swimming south to a Railroad marker, then down to 85' along a ridge/ditch until you find the TRAIN!!!... Seriously, we found the train that left the tracks in the early 1900s. We took a bunch of photographs and data to create a 3D Model, which will be coming soon.

Depth: First Car: 85'-105', Second Car: 110'-125', Third Small
Wreckage Site: 130'-135' (We conducted this dive as a Technical Dive using a special gas blend. Do not attempt this dive without appropriate training and experience)

Time: 90 Min total immersion, with decompression.

Temp: Bottom 42F, Surface 63F. Distinct thermoclines at 30' and 80'

Vis: 10’ at surface, 15-20’ at depth.

Conditions: Sunny, mild. Steep Rock bottom and evidence of landslide boulders. Few fallen timbers. Fine silt on the surface, but not much deep mud. Light zone ended at ~70'
Flora/Fauna: Trout in the shallows, nothing observed beyond the light zone.

Got the chance to get the gills wet today and run a few drills. Thanks Michael Slavinsky for the photos and Caleb McCabe for braving the cold. Looking forward to the next year of exploring the Inland Northwest. Found the old steam boat wreck in Bayview, Lake Pond O’Reille. Pretty cool to see the old wooden stern, shaft and prop.
