Good morning. This Saturday, January 10,2026 PCHS will host the annual HAWK classic wrestling tournament. FCCLA volunteers to work in the concession stand, but we are in need of adult volunteers to cash out customers. Had a big weekend of wrestling for both our squads in Pontiac this past weekend. The girls wrestled Friday afternoon and evening and the boys wrestled Saturday despite the weather. Everyone wrestled well and showed improvement. Yuri Vilchis got 2nd place, Makiya Baker was 4-2 and Ruby Guzman was 2-2.

With mostly first and second year wrestlers the boys had five place winners. Trey Zimmerman placed 1st, Andrew Patino 2nd, Julius Smith Nate Buchenau, and Elijah Mowery all placed 5th.

We currently don't have anyone to work concessions tomorrow at the UE for our only home dual and senior night. We also have lots of openings for the Hawk Classic. Below is the Sign Up Genius page. Anyone who would like to help support the team, please consider signing up for a slot. If slots are filled, but you're willing to help it's nice to have parents trade out while each other's kids wrestle. If you can't help at all for a wrestling event, please look ahead and sign up for shifts for later dates for other sports. Signing up for other sports is a great way to help out our boosters without missing your kids' matches. All of the money that boosters raises goes into a general fund that benefits all athletics at the JH and HS levels.

Weather was great for our No Pin No Win 5K fundraiser yesterday. It went great. thanks to everybody who came out and ran with us and to all of our sponsors (picture below). Shout out again to senior captain Yuri Vilchis who came up with the idea and did a lot of of the planning. Also shout out to Andrew Patino who finished first.

Spent part of practice yesterday putting signs out for today's 5k. Kids got broken up into two teams to place their sirns around the course. Had to run and all had to finish to win. IDK (not very decisive on team names) got the win, but everyone still went back out on the trail to pick up the slower runners and finish as a team. Then mat time.

UPDATE: T-shirts extended to Oct 31st. PCHS wrestling is changing the way that we fundraise this season. We are hosting a 5K in Fairbury. This event is the brainchild of our own Yuri Vilchis, senior and team captain. Bundle up, have a fun run or walk, then enjoy some hot chocolate afterward. Sign up by Oct 31st to get a shirt, but you can still sign up after and support a great group of kids.

We are hosting a Preseason Open tournament at PCHS on Oct. 25th. The goal is to raise funds in order to reduce the registration costs of joining our IKWF team ($300 previously). How much we can reduce them depends on how much we make on the tournament. Anyone who joins our IKWF team roster and helps with the tournament will get a free registration for one of the in-season IKWF tournaments on our schedule. We will need people to run tables / Track Wrestling for mats, help with weigh-ins, make food for and manage the hospitality room, work concessions, and various other tasks.
