"Excellent free apps for all golfers. Accurate distances count. It acts as an experience caddy for the 18 holes. Highly recommend!!!"

"I have just downloaded your wonderful program and it is brilliant. I recently lost my skycaddie and it's the best golf thing that happened to me in a long time because of that I looked for an app and found swing by swing. Thank you for all your hard work and just watched your video about smart play, extremely helpful."

Improve Your Distance Control.

If your lag putts keep finishing way short or racing past the hole, you're probably forcing the stroke.

Let the weight of the putter create the speed.
Think pendulum, not hit.

That helps you control distance and leave yourself easier second putts.

Work on your short game.

It’s one of the fastest ways to save strokes.

For a 15–19 handicap, chip/pitch and sand errors combine to cost roughly 1.6 strokes per round.

A short game error happens inside 50 yards of the hole when:
• you miss the green
• and still take 4+ strokes to hole out

Most short game mistakes occur when golfers choose the wrong shot for the situation.

Think about every short game shot like a stoplight:

🟢 Green light: A straightforward shot within your ability. Be aggressive.

🟡 Yellow light: Some risk is involved. Play conservatively and try to get down in 3.

🔴 Red light: Trouble is everywhere and the hero shot is tempting. Take the safest option possible, even if it means playing away from the hole.

Most golfers don’t need the perfect short game.
They need fewer mistakes around the green.

Know your carry numbers?

Carry distance is different than total distance, and most golfers don’t know their numbers until they start tracking them.

Hit a few shots with every club, find your averages, and update them in your SwingU bag for more accurate recommendations and better decisions on the course.

Shot tracking keeps your numbers up to date as you play.

Fix Your Golf Setup.

If you stand too close to the ball, you won’t have room through impact.

Let your arms hang naturally.
Drop your hands into position.
Push your hips back to create space and balance.

That gives you more room to swing through the ball cleanly.

Hit it straighter.

Good swings but the ball still leaks left or right?
Joe Hallett shares a simple drill to help you control the clubface and start the ball on your intended line.

Focus on clean fundamentals and a repeatable motion to keep more shots on line.

A lot of green to work with?

Most golfers try to help it in the air. That’s where it goes wrong. Play the ball back with your weight forward and lean the shaft to keep it low and under control.

Low flight with spin gives you way more control around the green.

Fix Your Bunker Setup.

If you keep catching bunker shots heavy or leaving them in the sand, your setup is probably working against you.

Play the ball forward.
Build a stable base in the sand.
Open the clubface before you grip it.

Splash the sand instead of trying to hit the ball.

That’s how you use the bounce and get cleaner bunker shots.

Think you should hit every green inside 120 yards?

If you’re a 15–19 handicap, you only hit about 50% of greens from around 115 yards. Scratch golfers hit 50% from around 195 yards.

It might be time to start managing your expectations.

On average, a 15–19 handicap loses about 1.3 strokes per round on approach. Scratch golfers are closer to 0.2.

Here’s the important part: missing the green isn’t necessarily an error.

An approach error is a shot that leads to a penalty or misses so badly you’re left with more than 50 yards to the hole.

Missing the green still gives you a chance to get up and down.

Approach play isn’t about being perfect. It’s about managing misses and giving yourself a chance to score.
