BCRI SOUTH AAU TRYOUTS
DEVELOPMENT FIRST. ALWAYS.
Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the country, but there are more than 30 AAU basketball programs for families to choose from.
So what makes BCRI South different?
For us, the answer is simple: AAU basketball is part of what we do. Player development is who we are.
Rhode Island Basketball Academy is a basketball development academy first. We train players 365 days a year through skills training, shooting development, camps, clinics, small group training and other year round development opportunities.
We partnered with BCRI, Rhode Island’s premier and top AAU program, to create BCRI South because we wanted our players to have the opportunity to combine a high level AAU experience with the development first philosophy that Rhode Island Basketball Academy was built on.
That distinction matters.
AAU seasons come and go. Tournaments come and go. Wins, losses and rankings come and go.
Player development lasts forever.
Long before dedicated skills and development training became commonplace within Rhode Island AAU basketball, Coach Derek Dewey was one of the first to bring that approach into the Rhode Island AAU scene. Today, virtually every program incorporates some form of skills training, and we’re proud to have helped push the game in that direction.
But we aren’t interested in doing things a certain way simply because that’s how they’ve always been done.
We continue to study, evolve and improve the way we develop players. We believe there is tremendous value in traditional basketball fundamentals and proven coaching methods, while also embracing modern training techniques, technology, shooting development, basketball IQ, decision making and new age approaches to teaching the game.
Development never stops and neither should the way we teach it.
That philosophy carries directly into BCRI South.
During the AAU season, BCRI South players receive exclusive access to Rhode Island Basketball Academy, creating opportunities for:
• More gym time
• More skills training
• More shooting development
• More opportunities to work on their individual game
• Additional development outside of regular team practices
• Discounts on RIBA programs, classes, camps and clinics throughout the year
We want players to practice with their team, compete with their team AND continue developing as individual basketball players.
That is an important difference.
Our goal isn’t simply to put together teams for a few months, play tournaments and then disappear when the AAU season ends.
We do basketball all year.
Through our partnership with BCRI, BCRI South gives players the opportunity to be part of an established, high level AAU program while also benefiting from the year round basketball development environment of Rhode Island Basketball Academy.
Two organizations. One shared goal:
Give players more opportunities to develop.
If you’re looking for an AAU experience where development isn’t just something written on a website or talked about at tryouts but something built into what players actually receive, we invite you to come experience BCRI South.
