🎣 Father's Day Weekend Fishing Report is LIVE! ☀️🐟

Looking for the perfect way to celebrate Dad this weekend? The weather is warm, and the fish are biting across NW Montana! Grab your rods, pack the cooler, and treat Dad to an unforgettable day on the water.

Here are a few quick highlights from this week's report:
✅ Flathead Lake: Lake trout are hot around a 50ft depth near the delta and ridges. Smallmouth bass are also very active in shallow, warm water near rocky bottoms!
✅ Bitterroot Lake: Kokanee salmon trolling has been great on the south end (Note: South launch is very shallow, so consider using the north end boat ramp instead!).
✅ Rogers Lake: Grayling and cutthroat trout are biting consistently in and just outside the w**d beds.
⚠️ Flathead River: Water is still high and fishing is very slow due to heavy runoff. Take caution of fast currents!

Get the exact depths, hot baits (from Brad’s Cut Plugs to Wacky Worms), and full details for Swan Lake, Bootjack, the River Sloughs, and more on our website!

Let’s be honest: if you ask your dad what he wants for Father’s Day, he’s probably going to tell you he just wants a solid afternoon nap or a few hours out on the lake. 🤫😴

We can’t guarantee the nap, but we did turn the store upside down to put together a sale that gives him a great excuse to head outside. Our Father's Day Sale is officially live and running through Sunday, June 21st, 2026.

The crew has been updating the readerboards out front (IMG_2228.jpg and IMG_2229.jpg), but here is a quick look at the best reasons to come visit us in Evergreen this week:

The "Can't Snap It" Special: The legendary Ugly Stick GX2 Combo is slashed straight in half—was $80, now just $40. 🎣

The Free Money Deal: Buy a $100 gift card for his truck visor, and we’ll hand you a bonus $25 gift card for free. (We won't tell him if you keep the extra 25 bucks for yourself). 💳

The "Summer Setup" Markdowns: Take 25% off all fishing rods and nets, 30% off hammocks and swimwear, and 20% off all yard games for the backyard. ☀️🛶

The Big Kahuna: If you really want to be the favorite child, buy him a fishing kayak and get 25% off select gear like Pelican paddles and Onyx life jackets to completely build his rig. 🚣

Check out the main flyer for the full list of store-wide markdowns, grab your shopping list, and come truck on in. If you get stuck trying to figure out what kind of gear he needs, just find one of us on the floor and we'll point you in the right direction! 🌲🏔️

The fishing report is hitting your feed late this week, (APOLOGIES) but we wanted to make sure we didn't leave you fully hanging!

Warming waters have dialed in a massive lake trout, bass, and rainbow trout bite across the Flathead Valley. 🎣 Big waters like Flathead and Swan are producing heavy lake trout at depth, while local sloughs are stacked with active bass.

Rivers are still running high, muddy, and hazardous from spring runoff, so stick to the lakes and make sure you're targeting the right depths.

Don't let the spring runoff scare you off the water! 🎣 While our river systems are feeling the melt, the local lakes and sloughs are producing excellent, consistent action right now.

If you can find a safe, "clean green" window on the Flathead River, jump on it—otherwise, head to the lakes where the post-spawn bite is heating up. We have the complete June 5th breakdown on what’s biting, what to throw, and critical safety/FWP regulation reminders for Hungry Horse and the Forks.

TOP BETS THIS WEEK:
🟢 Flathead Lake: Lakers are the headline, stacked along drop-offs in 40–100 feet. Drop white tube jigs or white hair jigs tipped with cut bait. Perch and bass are waking up around Polson Bay docks. Heads up: High water means severe floating debris hazards for boaters!
🟢 Hungry Horse Reservoir: Excellent deep-water trout and Kokanee action. (Remember: You must have a valid physical Bull Trout Catch Card to target them here).
🟢 Ashley Lake: Salmon are holding deep (40-50 ft). Perch are hiding in the w**ds. And yes, we just restocked live leeches here at Snappy's! Thanks to Flathead Bait
🟢 The Rivers: High, fast, and volatile. If it looks like chocolate milk, opt for the lakes. If you find clear edges, drift heavy stonefly nymphs or throw Panther Martins into slow eddies. Single-point hooks only on the North, Middle, and South forks.

Runoff season has officially peaked across the Flathead Valley. Major rivers are throwing a lot of high, muddy water our way, meaning the name of the game this weekend is adjusting your target to our local lakes, reservoirs, and sloughs.

A few quick highlights from the May 29th report:
• Flathead Lake: Active smallmouth, stacked perch in Polson Bay, and a steady lake trout bite—though tactics vary heavily by location (and one major area should be skipped entirely).
• Hungry Horse Reservoir: Producing excellent deep-water trout action on early morning trolls, but don't forget your FWP catch-card.
• Mary Ronan & Ashley Lakes: Salmon and Kokanee are out in force, with orange Swedish Pimples taking top honors on Ashley.
• Valley Sloughs: Pike are aggressive in the flooded grass, while crappie are hiding out in the back ends away from the current.

If you are brave enough to tackle the moving water, the Main Flathead is fluctuating daily between green and brown. Stick entirely to the slow, soft edges and inside seams with heavy rigs.

Check out the full, comprehensive blog post for exact depths, hot trolling plugs, and a sneak peek at the upcoming June Salmonfly hatches. 👇

Staff will use this data to build the final package this fall. If you want your voice & your data noted in the official record before the final regulation package is drafted for the Fish and Wildlife Commission, the time to submit them is right now.

❌ Do not wait. The comment window closes this Sunday, May 31.
