We had a great turnout for this years seminar with Walter van den Broeke!

The first day we went over Juru(form) 1 and a few ways to use the first motion and build application with it. Then we moved on to our 3rd Pukul(hitting) drill. Walter showed various ways to use this from different scenarios that our participants asked to see.

Our second day was going over any questions from the previous day. Then we moved on to our 2nd Sepak(kicking) drill and various ways to use it. After that we spent time looking at empty hand versus a stick and then empty hand against a knife.

Everyone had a great time and learned a LOT! As always, we kept things simple so people could take home an understanding of basic PRINCIPLES and didn't get lost in learning 1k different techniques.

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us! Apologies for missing a few people in the group photo, definitely gonna remember next year to take the picture on the first day!

With the weather starting to warm up here, I'm looking forward to training outdoors!

Training on different surfaces helps you better understand how to move. Training in the sand is a LOT different than training on mats.

ONE way to defend yourself against a PUSH and PUNCH attack!

There are many ways to defend yourself, the key is to follow certain PRINCIPLES!

If you get PUSHED, don't fight it! Use the opponents momentum to gain the upper hand!

ALWAYS take your opponents BALANCE!

And of course... HIT them!

It is a privilege to be a part of this organization and to learn from a teach like Walter van den Broeke.

Walter van den Broeke, ha avuto il PRIVILEGIO di allenarsi con insegnanti che non si sono mai concentrati su risultati rapidi e popolarità, ma hanno dedicato la loro vita al raggiungimento della perfezione, pur consci del fatto che fosse una chimera.
Gli allenamenti in quegli anni erano duri e senza sosta, che si trattasse di allenamenti in palestre sociali o che si trattasse di allenarsi in salotto di qualche insegnante.
Non c’era differenza, si doveva dare tutto, ci si doveva CONFRONTARE con chiunque, soprattutto con i thai boxer che negli anni 90 avevano ottime scuole in tutta l’olanda e diversi campioni che vincevano in tutto il mondo.
Pak Flohr, la famiglia de Vries e tutti gli insegnanti di quegli anni erano a cavallo tra la prima e la seconda generazione di Indo immigrati dall’indonesia, portavano nei loro cuori molto saldamente quelli che erano gli usi e la cultura che avevano lasciato.
L’allenamento non era un passatempo serale, era il trasmettere qualcosa che non volevano che andasse PERDUTO.
Purtroppo quasi tutti questi insegnanti sono ormai deceduti.
E con loro anche le loro conoscenze e abilità.
L'ultimo insegnante di Walter, oom Paul de Thouars (il termine "oom", parola olandese per zio, è spesso usato per rivolgersi agli insegnanti nella tradizione indonesiana-olandese), sviluppo’ quindi un sistema (Bukti Negara) che potesse DIFFONDERE la conoscenza che veniva allenata e conservata all'interno di piccole compagnie di familiari e amici per portarla a un pubblico più ampio.
Nel 2011 oom Paul chiese il supporto di Walter per diffondere l'arte del Bukti Negara.
Dopo la scomparsa di Oom Paul, Walter considero’ suo dovere e onore CONTINUARE la visione e la missione e condividere le conoscenze e le abilità ricevute dai suoi insegnanti.
Fu subito chiaro che volevamo costruire un'organizzazione ispirata ai desideri degli insegnanti scomparsi per onorarli ma soprattutto per allenare quanto ci era stato passato.
L'obiettivo principale è mantenere un'alta QUALITA’ TECNICA e fornire ai praticanti non solo le abilità ma anche le conoscenze per preservare questo patrimonio culturale e sportivo.
Da qui nacque il Naga Kuning Institute.
