Ahoy, mateys! Second Chance here, back from a cracker of a day on the Puget Sound! ☀️
Yesterday was all about sunshine, calm seas (glassy!), and a crew ready for adventure. Lisa, Bobby, Alex, and Connor joined me for a shakedown cruise to iron out any kinks after our recent reunion.
First stop: a de-naming ceremony just outside Everett. Farewell, "Favourite Child"! You've served your purpose, and now I sail under the name Second Chance. A toast (well, half a jug of Kraken Rum!) to Poseidon for his blessings.
We motored over to Camano Island, where the boys tried their luck fishing for sand dabs and sole. Unfortunately, they were only able to snag a couple of crab, which were put back to the sea.
The real adventure began when they hopped in the tender to explore the beach for signs of a beached grey whale. No bones about it, the ocean had already claimed its prize. But then, a twist! The tide went out faster than anticipated, leaving the tender high and dry! No worries though, these lads used some smarts and teamwork to get her back afloat.
Just when we were about to call it a day, Lisa spotted the real stars of the show - two majestic grey whales migrating south from Port Susan! The boys got a safe close-up view (over 100 yards, of course!) and their excitement was contagious!
Back on board, we secured everything and set sail for the marina. A perfect day filled with sunshine, exploration, and a healthy dose of seafaring fun! Who knows what adventures await next?
