Over the last two days - Hank Schreiber was competing in the Southern Junior Masters at Covered Bridge Golf Club.

Hank fired rounds of 72 and 75 to finish +3 and T6 overall in a field loaded with strong talent and players from all over the state.

Congrats to class of 2028 standout, Hank Schreiber on a GREAT showing this week GolfWeek Junior Tour in Bloomington, Indiana at the Pfau Course!

The Pfau course is extremely difficult and Hank navigated it to post a smooth 74-72 (+4) to finish 2nd overall in a field of 75 talented players from all over the region.

Congrats Hank! Summer golf off to a great start!

The North Huskies were represented today at the IHSAA Regional at Country Oaks by two sophomores: Hank Schreiber and Emmett Sunderman.

Emmett capped off his season with a +9 round of 81, finishing the year with his two lowest 18-hole scores. We’re incredibly proud of the progress Emmett made throughout the season and excited about what lies ahead.

The story of the day, however, belonged to Hank.

After a slow start that left him 2-over par through his first three holes, Hank settled in and battled his way around Country Oaks. A trio of back-nine birdies on holes 12, 13, and 15 moved him to 2-under par and firmly into State Finals position.

Then came the 18th hole.

Country Oaks’ closing hole is a dramatic, short par 4 played back toward the clubhouse, with spectators packed around the green creating one of the best atmospheres in high school golf. Hank’s tee shot clipped a tree near the tee box and left him approximately 145 yards from the hole.

His approach flew over the green and into a back bunker, where it came to rest in an unplayable lie against the lip. Forced to take relief and a one-stroke penalty inside the bunker, Hank suddenly found himself fighting to keep his State Finals hopes alive.

He blasted his next shot onto the green and faced a 10-foot putt to save bogey.

What Hank didn’t know at the time was that this putt would ultimately secure his trip to the IHSAA State Finals.

Without hesitation, he rolled it right into the heart of the cup.

Final score: 71 (-1)

With that clutch finish, Hank advances to the IHSAA State Finals next week at Prairie View Golf Club.

What a season. What a round. And what a moment.

Congratulations, Hank. The entire North Golf family is proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you represent the Huskies at State.

There are golf tournaments…

and then there is U.S. Open Final Qualifying.

Known as “The Longest Day in Golf,” nearly 80 players arrived at Lakes Golf & Country Club in Westerville, Ohio with one goal: earn one of just four spots into the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.

Yesterday, Evansville North alum Luke Johnston stepped into a field loaded with PGA Tour players, PGA Tour winners, major championship veterans, and elite amateurs from around the world.

Among those competing were 2009 U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover, Ryder Cup player and 5-time PGA Tour winner J.B. Holmes, PGA Tour winners Jhonattan Vegas, Erik van Rooyen, Aaron Baddeley, and Denny McCarthy, along with current PGA Tour player Justin Lower. Collectively, the field represented dozens of PGA Tour victories and major championship appearances.

With 2025 North graduate Brody Sorrell on the bag, Luke battled through 36 holes and posted rounds of 73-71 to finish at even par.

The score itself is impressive.

The context makes it remarkable.

For 36 holes, Luke wasn’t watching PGA Tour players. He was competing with them.

Luke finished ahead of several accomplished professionals and proved that he belongs on golf’s biggest stages.

For our current players, that’s the lesson. Luke once practiced on the same ranges, played the same junior events, and wore the same green and white. Yesterday’s performance was the result of years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to his craft.

The scorecard says Even Par.

Those who understand the level of competition know it says much more than that.

We are incredibly proud of Luke Johnston and Brody Sorrell for representing Evansville North, Evansville, and Indiana on one of golf’s biggest stages.

Once a Husky. Always a Husky.
