Junior Fundamentals League Parents,

We are excited to get the Fall Junior Fundamentals League underway this Sunday, September 6 at the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville. Please review the following Opening Day information before arriving.

CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE

Before heading to the gym, please use the Pocket City Basketball App to confirm your child’s team and scheduled game times:

The app will be the best place throughout the season to keep up with team rosters, schedules, scores, standings, results, tournament information and league announcements.

PLAYER ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN

Please have your child arrive no earlier than 45 minutes before their first scheduled game of the day.

During Opening Day check-in, each player will:
• Receive their custom Pocket City Basketball uniform
• Have an individual player profile picture taken
• Be directed to their team’s bench area
• Be introduced to their bench coach for the session

Players should arrive ready to play. There is no need to arrive earlier than the requested 45-minute window.

ADMISSION

Admission is $7 per spectator. Children 12 and under are free. Pass-outs will be available.

Coaches, referees and volunteer scoreboard/scoresheet operators will receive free admission after signing in.

SCOREBOARD & SCORESHEET VOLUNTEERS

Each team will be responsible for providing a volunteer to operate either the scoreboard or scoresheet during its games.

Parents who volunteer for one of these positions will receive free admission for the day after signing in.

Games cannot begin until the required table personnel are in place, so we greatly appreciate parents helping us keep the day’s schedule running smoothly.

GAME FORMAT

Teams will play two games each Sunday during Weeks 1–3, with the league concluding with a single-elimination tournament on September 27.

Players are guaranteed a minimum of 7 games over the four-week season.

Games consist of two 18-minute running-clock halves with a three-minute halftime.

SPORTSMANSHIP & SPECTATOR CONDUCT

Our goal is to create a positive environment where young players can learn, compete and enjoy the game.

Pocket City Basketball has a zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate communication with referees. Parents and spectators should not argue with, confront or direct inappropriate comments toward officials.

If a Pocket City staff member witnesses inappropriate behavior, or an official reports it to our staff, the spectator may be removed from the facility without refund.

Please allow the coaches to coach, the officials to officiate and the players to play.

The Junior Fundamentals League is designed to emphasize skill development, spacing, teamwork, confidence, basketball IQ, sportsmanship and live game experience.

Introducing the New Pocket City Basketball App

Pocket City Basketball is introducing an entirely new way for players and families to experience their Pocket City Basketball program.

The new Pocket City Basketball App is more than a mobile version of our website. It's a platform built specifically around our programs, bringing schedules, rosters, scores, standings, tournament information, announcements and new interactive features together in one place.

The first program to launch inside the app will be our Junior Fundamentals League, giving families an easy way to follow their team and stay connected throughout the season.

As additional Pocket City programs are added, the app experience will expand with them.

XLP — X-LEAGUE POINTS

For X-League participants, we're introducing XLP — X-League Points.

XLP adds an entirely new layer of competition and recognition to the X-League. Players can earn XLP through individual accomplishments, performances and recognition throughout the season.

Play. Perform. Earn XLP.

Players will be able to follow their XLP directly inside the app, creating something new to compete for every week beyond simply wins and losses.

GAME X-FACTORS — YOU GET A VOTE

Every game has players who make a difference.

Now the Pocket City community gets a voice in recognizing them.

Following X-League games, players can be recognized as Game X-Factors for performances that impact the game — whether that's scoring, defense, rebounding, playmaking, hustle, leadership or making the plays that help a team win.

And Game X-Factors are decided through voting directly inside the Pocket City Basketball App.

As soon as the final score of a game is entered into the system, X-Factor voting automatically opens for that game**.

Players and families can then cast their vote through the app for the player they believe made the biggest impact.

Voting remains open through 6:00 PM Monday, giving everyone time to participate after the weekend's games.

Once voting closes, the Game X-Factor is determined and the recognition becomes part of that week's league results.

And there's another reason it matters:

Game X-Factors earn XLP.

So the final buzzer doesn't necessarily end the competition.

Play the game. Make an impact. Get the vote. Earn XLP.

HIGH SCHOOL EXCLUSIVE: PCB RECRUITLINK

For our High School X-League players, we've built what may be the most powerful feature in the entire platform.

PCB RecruitLink.

Every High School X-League participant will have access to his own customizable Pocket City Player Card.

Players can personalize their card with basketball information and direct links to their Hudl profile and highlights, MaxPreps profile, news articles and other information they want college coaches to see.

Then they can put that Player Card to work.

Behind RecruitLink is a researched database containing men's college basketball programs and legitimate public basketball contacts across multiple levels of college basketball.

High school players can identify a college they're interested in, initiate contact through RecruitLink and share their Pocket City Player Card.

Find a school. Introduce yourself. Share your profile. Share your film.

RecruitLink doesn't promise scholarships or recruitment.

It gives high school players the tools to take ownership of their recruiting process and makes one of the hardest parts of getting started — finding programs and knowing where to send their information — much easier.

X-LEAGUE ROSTERS COMING SEPTEMBER 7

Official Boys Fall X-League rosters will be released by September 7 and will be available directly through the new Pocket City Basketball App.

High School participants don't have to wait until roster release to get started.

All registered High School X-League players can claim their Pocket City Player Card NOW.

Once claimed, players can begin customizing their card immediately — adding their basketball information, Hudl and MaxPreps profiles, highlight links, news articles and other information they want included.

That means High School players can begin building their Player Card and getting familiar with **PCB RecruitLink before the X-League season even begins.**

CURRENTLY IN TESTING

The Pocket City Basketball App is currently in its testing and rollout phase.

We're actively testing the different features, information and functionality throughout the platform as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Families may notice updates, adjustments and new features appearing in the app over the next several weeks. Some portions of the platform may also change as we continue testing how everything works across different devices.

Additional updates will continue between now and Opening Day of the Boys Fall X-League.

We're making the app available now so families can begin getting familiar with it while we continue preparing the full X-League experience.

WEBSITE VS. APP

The regular Pocket City Basketball website isn't going anywhere. It will remain the place to learn about programs, register and find general Pocket City information.

The difference is simple:

The website is where you find Pocket City Basketball.

The app is where you experience your Pocket City Basketball program.

The new platform is technically a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means you don't have to search for Pocket City Basketball in the App Store or Google Play Store.

You can add it directly to your phone's Home Screen and use it much like a traditional app.

ADD POCKET CITY BASKETBALL TO YOUR HOME SCREEN

iPhone / iPad

1. Open the Pocket City Basketball App link in Safari.
2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
3. Scroll down and select **Add to Home Screen**.
4. Tap Add.

The Pocket City Basketball icon will now appear on your Home Screen. Tap the icon anytime you want to open the app.

Android

1. Open the Pocket City Basketball App link in Google Chrome.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
3. Select **Add to Home Screen** or **Install App**.
4. Follow the prompt to confirm.

The Pocket City Basketball icon will then appear on your Home Screen for quick access.

Once it's added, there's no need to search for the website each time — just tap the Pocket City Basketball icon and you're in.

Boys Fall X-League and Junior Fundamentals

🏀 NEW THIS YEAR: X LEAGUE POINTS (XLP)!

We’re always looking for ways to bring something new to the largest fall basketball experience in the Midwest, and this year we’re introducing X League Points — giving players another way to compete and be recognized throughout the season.

🏆 HOW XLP WORKS

Every player earns XLP based on their team's result in each completed game:

🟢 Win by 10+ points: +7 XLP
🟢 Win: +5 XLP
🔴 Loss by 1–10 points: −3 XLP
🔴 Loss by 11+ points: −5 XLP

These points are awarded to every player on the team.

⭐ GAME AWARDS

Players can also earn +5 XLP through our post-game Game
Awards:

🔥 Top Offensive Performance
🛡️ Top Defensive Performance
💪 Hustle Award

After each completed game, five votes will be available through the new Pocket City Basketball app.

The five votes can be distributed however the voter chooses. They do not have to go to five different players. Voters can use multiple votes on the same player or spread them across different players and award categories.

Only players who participated in that particular game are eligible.
At the end of the voting period, the player with the most votes in each category wins that award and receives +5 XLP. If there is a tie, every player tied for the most votes receives the award and +5 XLP.

Voting will open after the game is completed and will close Monday at 6:00 PM.

The XLP leaderboard will be updated throughout the season so players, families and fans can follow the race.

XLP does not affect team standings or determine the league champion. It's simply another way to reward team success and recognize individual performances throughout the season.

🏀 **BOYS FALL X-LEAGUE — LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE**

We have **5 Free Agent spots remaining** in the **5th/6th Grade Division** for the **14th Annual Boys Fall X-League**.

These spots will be filled on a **first come, first served basis** and will remain available through **August 25th**, or until all five spots have been accepted.

You don’t need an extensive coaching résumé. We’re looking for dependable people who communicate well, bring positive energy, and are willing to learn.

Our goal is to give interested coaches an opportunity to learn on the job, gain experience, and be part of a competitive and positive basketball environment.

A Special Change to This Year’s Fall X-League Uniforms

One Community. One Heart. In Memory of Sam.

This fall, the 14th Annual Boys Fall X-League will look a little different.

Sports were a huge part of Sam Schulz’s life. He loved the games, the teams, the players and coaches, but even more than that, he loved the relationships that came with them. Sam had a way of making connections with people and becoming part of their lives, and his impact reached well beyond any one school, team or community.

With Sam's passing, we felt there was an opportunity for this year's Fall X-League to represent something bigger than basketball. We have decided to dedicate this year's uniforms to Sam and create something that reflects the person so many of us were fortunate enough to know.

For those who may not have known Sam personally or may not know his story, Sam lived his entire life with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic condition that causes the skin to be extremely fragile. Even everyday friction or minor trauma can cause painful blistering, wounds and other serious complications.

It meant that many of the ordinary things most of us never have to think twice about presented challenges for Sam. But EB was never what defined him.

If you knew Sam, you knew his personality. You knew his sense of humor. You knew how much he loved people, how fiercely he loved his family, and you definitely knew how much he loved sports.

Sam was one of the biggest supporters of local athletics you could ever meet. His knowledge of sports was remarkable, and college basketball was especially close to his heart. Michigan State, Ole Miss and the Evansville Aces were all part of that passion. He loved sneakers, his favorite snacks, Zach Bryan, and all of the little things that made him unmistakably Sam.

More importantly, Sam had an incredible ability to connect with people. Players, coaches, families and friends from all different walks of life became part of Sam’s circle.

Moving forward with our originally planned Fall X-League uniforms simply didn't feel right. We wanted this season's uniform to carry more meaning and reflect a person who meant so much to so many people in our community.

When we began working on the new uniform, we wanted people who knew Sam to be able to look at it and immediately recognize pieces of him. The design brings together the teams he followed, the sneakers and snacks he loved, his faith, his family, Evansville and other personal touches that were part of his life. Some of those details are prominent, while others are worked quietly into the sublimation.

Across the front of every uniform will be four words that we believe represent exactly what this moment is about:

One Community. One Heart.

Hundreds of young athletes from schools and communities throughout Southern Indiana will take the court in these uniforms this fall. For four Sundays, regardless of what school is normally across their chest or what community they come from, they will share this one.

That's what we want this tribute to represent.

Sam fought EB with extraordinary strength and grace. But we don't want these uniforms to simply represent what Sam fought.

We want them to represent what Sam loved.

We hope that when the players put them on this fall, they understand there is a story behind what they're wearing and a person worth remembering.
