Time for another Evansville area minor league round up!
Zach Messinger (AAA Yankees) - Zach’s ERA continues to drop. After giving up no runs on three hits in May, so far in June he’s only given up two runs on 7 hits. His ERA is down to 2.35 for the season with 32 strikeouts in 40 innings out of the bullpen. Might the Yankees be calling soon???
Matthew Fisher (A Phillies) - Fresh off of a promotion to Clearwater and a #10 ranking in the Phillies organization, Matthew has had his first couple of starts for Clearwater. His best was two nights ago when he pitched 4 innings giving up only 3 hits and no runs against Jupiter. What is so cool about his promotion to Clearwater…his skipper is Evansville’s Aaron Barrett.
Cam Tilly (A Mets) - Cam has had a solid June going 1-0 with an ERA of 1.00. Over that span, he’s pitched 18 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 10 hits with 15 strikeouts. For the season, he is 3-2 for the St. Lucie Mets with 52 strikeouts over 54.1 innings. Keep that hot streak going Cam!
Cameron Decker (High A Draft Dodgers) - Cam has now come back from injury and has had some pretty good games as of late. On June 23rd, he was on base 4 times going 2-3, added two walks, and two stolen bases.
Elijah Dunham (AA Angels) - Elijah has also been dealing with the injury bug. Unfortunately he’s only had 95 at bats on the year, but hopefully the injuries are now in the past. He’s hitting .211 on the year with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs. On June 21st, he was on base 3 times with a hit and two walks.
Major League notes…How about Don Mattingly’s run as Phillies manager? He’s taken his club to a playoff position with the best record in baseball since being named the interim manager. Along with Oliver Marmol of the Cardinals, Don was recently named to the coaching staff of the National League all star team by Dave Roberts of the Dodgers. Congratulations Don!
