WARNING: Long Post. I donât want anyone to misunderstand. I am not a P320 hater. Nor am I a fanboy. I have been doing this professionally for too long to worship at the alter of one gun or one manufacturer. I have more than a couple P320 pistols. Some are relatively stock, some, like this RX have most components modified. This gun is an early P320 (post voluntary recall). It has thousands of rounds through it. When I bought my P320 X-Five Legion as a competition gun, this P320RX became my backup. The P320 X-Five also has thousands of rounds through it. I trust both of those guns. Unfortunately, because Sig will not admit there is a problem or publish an affected serial number range, I had to make the decision to ban all of them. It means that I canât use either of these proven guns because I canât know the history of every P320 that may show up at our academy or range. I also wonât be able to defend them with good faith in the event of an incident. How can I risk ruining a new officers life if we have an incident? This is bigger than what gun you like or dislike. It simply comes down to a decision between platforms that have been proven and donât exhibit issues or risking using one that may have issues even though other acceptable options exist. My P320s are likely now going to be relegated to solo range days. I canât in good faith teach a class with one until Sig fixes this nightmare. I will still evaluate one-on-one coaching sessions with them, but I cannot trust them in a class environment.
