At a chain, the person who owns your gym has never set foot in your gym.
Here they're Eric and Crista, and you'll meet them within about ten minutes of walking in — because that's where the job is. On the floor. Re-racking something, spotting somebody, wiping down a bench.
That's not a marketing angle; it's just what locally owned actually means in practice. They know the regulars by name. They know who's coming back from an injury and who's been avoiding leg day since March. They notice when somebody's been gone two weeks, and they say something about it.
