The studio quickly flourished building a reputation in the community for its outstanding dance instruction. Located at 560 Diamond Avenue in Town Center for over 30 years, Shannon’s School of Dance has instructed several generations of students. In 2002, former dance student and instructor, then 22 year-old Michelle Crosbie was hand picked by Shannon to take over the studio when she retired the sa

me year. An accomplished dancer, painter and instructor, Michelle enjoys gourmet cooking and interior design. Today, Shannon’s School of Dance is still one of the preeminent dance schools in The Tri-State. First Avenue, there are several hundred students ranging in age from 3 to adult. Shannon’s School of Dance offers tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatic, hip-hop, lyrical, and ballroom dance classes as part of its well-rounded program. As a compliment to its exceptional training, what sets apart Shannon’s School of Dance is an intangible, enduring sense of community and camaraderie that exists among students, parents and teachers. Shannon’s provides a quality dance education within a nurturing and supportive environment in the same manner today as its inception over 45 years ago.

Reminiscing about the Shannon's School of Dance, Recital 2026!!! I am so very PROUD of all the dancers - age 3 through adult - who set their fears and nerves aside to let their joy and talent SHINE! Dancers took the stage at the Old National Events Plaza, May 23rd, and presented “Dancing Through the Seasons” the 52nd Annual Recital of Shannon’s School of Dance!

I decided to take the “leap” this year and include all of our Adult classes in the recital! I had big ideas and I asked a lot of these ladies… a montage of Tap and Jazz, numerous formations, entrances and exits, a COSTUME CHANGE in the middle of the dance, and for some, ending the routine in a full split… let me just say, these ladies delivered! I am beyond pleased with the debut SSD adult student performance!

As always, the youngest dancers stole the show with extreme CUTENESS, the children danced their hearts out and smiled it up, and the high schoolers showed us what a lifetime of work and dedication to the art and love of dance looks like.

Thank you to my AMAZING staff and the magic they create. Thank you to all the backstage helpers who made this show possible. And thank you to Shannon for giving me the opportunity to take over the legacy of SSD 22 years ago! I’ve loved every moment! 💃
