This is a technique called “mag trapping.” Commonly used throughout the military. The cons to this is that it can be slower putting the rifle on the barricade compared to just resting the hand guard on the barricade. It also compromises your grip if you have larger hands. However, there are some perks to “mag trapping.” It prevents barrel and rail flex when shooting from a barricade and in most cases reduces recoil dramatically. Get out and shoot!

Standing in one spot, shooting, reloading, and clearing malfunctions may be great training and even better when timed. But the reality is is that we need to seek cover before we do these things. Pallets are everywhere. Grab one and make barricades to mimic cover and rearrange the wood to put yourself in difficult positions to shoot from. Get out and shoot!

Iron sights are quickly going away in todays gun industry, but I can assure you that they have their perks! At 300 yards the front sight post is the same width of an average man. If the person is wider than the post they’re closer than 300. If smaller than the post, then they’re further than 300 yards.

Tips for shooting on the move. Keep your steps decently short or shorter than average. Large steps tend to make your reticle sway causing inaccurate shot placements. Also fire when you’re the most stable and that’s when both feet make contact on the ground.
