Itā€™s not just about throwing punches and kicks ā€” itā€™s about learning the details that make every movement stronger and more effective.

Our Homeschool Co-Op is about so much more than learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Yes, we train. We learn techniques. We build confidence, discipline, and strength.

But weā€™re also teaching our kids what it means to understand their role within their family, their team, and their community.

And one of the most powerful parts? Our parents are involved. šŸ™Œ

Theyā€™re standing behind their kids.
Theyā€™re showing up.
Theyā€™re supporting them.
Theyā€™re leading by example.
Theyā€™re providing opportunities that, for some, they may not have had growing up themselves.

That matters. ā¤ļø

When a child looks over and sees Mom or Dad watching, encouraging, learning, and walking alongside them, theyā€™re learning something that goes far beyond Jiu-Jitsu.

Theyā€™re learning what family, commitment, leadership, and support look like.

We arenā€™t just building better grapplers.

Psalm 112:1-2
Praise ye theĀ Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth theĀ Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

These two very small verses of scripture are packed with such wisdom. ā€œThe man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. Ā His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.ā€
I realize we all want our seed and the generations of the upright to experience the blessings of the Lord. Thecommand is so simple, yet so hard, for humanity to take seriously and fulfill fearing the Lord and delighting greatly in his commandment. Ā 
God handed down ten short commands, and most of us have broken several, if not all of them, at one time or another in our lives. Why is it we have a lack of fear for God? This suggests there isnā€™t much wisdom anymore in our society, for scripture declares in Proverbs 9:10, ā€œThe fearĀ ofĀ theĀ LordĀ is theĀ beginningĀ ofĀ wisdom: and the knowledgeĀ ofĀ the holy is understanding.ā€
The scripture does not mince words when it comes to wisdom and knowledge of the Lord. Take another look at scripture, Proverbs 1:7 says, ā€œThe fearĀ ofĀ theĀ LordĀ is theĀ beginningĀ ofĀ knowledge: but fools despiseĀ wisdomĀ and instruction.ā€ Ā Yes, it is true, this generation is struggling, but Christ offered us some unreal advice when He hand delivered the eleventh commandment to His disciples.
John 13:34-35 says, ā€œAĀ newĀ commandmentĀ I give unto you, That ye love oneĀ another; as I have loved you, that ye also love oneĀ another. ByĀ thisĀ shallĀ allĀ menĀ know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.ā€ So if you struggle with the ten, maybe you can fulfill this one, and in doing so, fulfill all the others, bringing forth mighty seed and blessings upon the upright.
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize the power of love.

We couldnā€™t be more proud of the heart, determination, and sportsmanship our students showed on those mats! Every match was another opportunity to learn, grow, and represent our team with pride.

Win or learn ā€” we do it together. Faith. Family. Jiu-Jitsu.

As the pictures continue to roll in from yesterday, we canā€™t help but feel SO incredibly proud of our MDBJJ team! šŸ’™šŸ„‹

You can see in every picture just how much our students poured into every single match. They fought hard, showed heart, and most importantlyā€”their sportsmanship was unmatched. No dirty moves. No poor attitudes. Just respect, determination, and good Jiu-Jitsu. THAT is what we want our team to represent!

Some of our students didnā€™t have anyone in their brackets, so instead of walking away, they stepped up. They moved up in weight. They moved up in skill level. One of our teens even stepped into the womenā€™s division just for the opportunity to compete!

No excuses. No backing down. Just the willingness to challenge themselves and leave it all on the mats.

THIS is what itā€™s all about. šŸ™Œ

True perseverance. Courage when the challenge gets harder. Godā€™s strength carrying them through, with coaches, teammates, and families surrounding the mats cheering them on every step of the way.

Medals are amazing, but the character, heart, sportsmanship, and perseverance we witnessed yesterday mean even more.

We are beyond proud of EACH and EVERY one of you! šŸ’™

We could not be more proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats and represented Mount Dora BJJ at NEWBREED today!

šŸ”„ Our Youth Team placed 4th out of 103 schools!
That is HUGE! These kids showed up, fought hard, supported their teammates, and represented our academy with heart, grit, and incredible sportsmanship.

šŸ„‡šŸ„ˆ Our adults walked away with GOLDS & SILVERS, including our teen Jozlynn, who stepped up into the Womenā€™s Division and worked it like an absolute CHAMP! šŸ’ŖšŸ”„ Talk about courage and stepping up to the challenge!

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø A very special shoutout to our Back the Blue representative, Darla, who had the honor of playing the National Anthem on her trumpet and walking alongside the Orange County Honor Guard. What an incredible moment! šŸ’™šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

More than the medals and team placement, we are beyond grateful for the parents and students who trust us to be part of their BJJ journey. Watching our team grow, compete, encourage one another, and represent what MDBJJ stands for is something we will never take for granted.
