From communication boards to changing facilities to thoughtful safety features, we are designing Play Street with accessibility in mind from the very beginning. Because every family deserves a place to play, connect, and feel welcome 🧡

📣URGENT ACTION ALERT! On Thursday, June 25, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing titled "State Medicaid Program Integrity: Examining Fraud Risks and Oversight Deficiencies."

California is one of only four states being called to testify, alongside New York, Minnesota, and Ohio. State Medicaid Directors from each state have been asked to appear before Congress as lawmakers continue a national conversation focused on Medicaid spending and allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse.

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program.

For Californians with disabilities, older adults, family caregivers, and low-income individuals, this hearing raises serious concerns.

We need everyone in the community to send emails defending Medi-Cal (Medicaid) services and programs to the Committee Chair Congressman John Joyce at [email protected] (copy us at [email protected]) ASAP and SPREAD THE WORD!

CLICK LINK FOR SAMPLE EMAIL AND FULL ARTICLE: https://thearcca.org/this-week-congressional-hearing-targets-medicaid-programs-in-california-medi-cal-on-waste-fraud-and-abuse/

Congressman Kevin Mullin, who represents constituents in the San Francisco Bay Area, is on this committee and will be representing California. To send you letter/email to Congressman Mullin, please email [email protected] and we will make sure he gets them before the hearing.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVOCACY!! Let's SAVE MEDICAID!

It’s done! A huge thank you to Leonard and the crew at Lindstrom Construction for making our accessibility pathway a reality.

When we first spoke about the project Leonard promised he’d start on Thursday and he certainly started on Thursday! The crew was clean, courteous, and incredibly respectful of the space. They completed the project in a very short amount of time, which removed one more barrier standing between Play Street and opening our doors. They also gave us a much appreciated non-profit discount 🙌

We are one step closer to welcoming families into Play Street and we’re so grateful for the community partners like helping make it happen. 💛

We are all just growing and evolving. Every single day. 🧡

We were thrilled to show our space to Audra Sisson who is running for Eureka City Council this year in Ward 1.

We became acquainted with Audra through Facebook Marketplace when we bought some furniture for our space from her!

We are impressed with her zest for life and passion for helping others. She has already helped connect us to people in our community who have brought amazing support and collaborative efforts towards our space design.

We are excited to have her support and wish her the best luck on her campaign!

Play Street donated a box of sensory toys and a gift certificate for her campaign fundraising dinner this Friday at Eureka Vets Hall@at 6pm. Check it out if you are interested in learning more about her plans for serving Eureka residents and businesses!

Thank you to the wonderful owners of &
Busy Baby Academy in Eureka for this amazing donation of books for our cozy corner!

Our lead "librarian" Miss Daphne can't wait to go through each one and make choices to have on display in our space.

Did you know we accept donations of gently used children's toys and household items? We can give receipts for tax purposes too!

What we don't use will go to our donation area for families who use our center to peruse.

We love our community of teachers & parents! 🧡

Week 9 of building Play Street

This has been a big week both inside and out! We can hardly believe the amazing amount of progress happening so quickly.

Here are some of this week’s highlights:
🧡 Our accessibility pathway is well underway. Big thank you to Lindstrom Construction Inc. for your hard work in making this part of our space a reality 🙏
🧡 The backyard had a major glow up! There’s a new patio complete with a seating area for the grown ups and a small picnic table for the littles. It gets toasty back there 😎
🧡 We’re building a gated area in the front entrance to help keep fast, curious kids safely inside Play Street
👀 BONUS! Stay until the end to see a picture of our brand new indoor playground

There are so many exciting additions this week. What are you most excited about?

Play Street is happy to announce that we were the recipient of North Coast Co-op's Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) grant.

The NC Co-Op made a very generous donation towards our purchase of special fiber optic lights that will have a waterfall cascade effect from one of the light panels in our Multi-Sensory Play and Education Center.

We cannot wait for the shipment to arrive and be installed so families coming to our center can experience them!

Look out for future pics and videos of these especially cool multi-sensory effects!

The Co-op is excited to announce this year's Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) grant committee, composed of three volunteer Co-op owners, award 11 local organizations with grants totaling $26,833. Created by owners of North Coast Co-op, CCF has awarded more than $720,000 in grants to community programs and nonprofits.
