Sigerist is my family name, so I decided it was appropriate as it is German and I'm honoring my German heritage by carrying on this amazing breeds inherent qualities of loyalty, incredible beauty and intelligence for others to enjoy and love.

Well, it's the weekend again. Looking forward to seeing pupdates from the weekend adventures of many of my babies in their furever homes !
Hazel goes for her ultrasound next Friday, to see if she's preggers, and if so, approx how many little October goblins she's working on :) So exciting !!
It's hard to do video by myself, but here she is enjoying some late evening TV time with me. She sure loves doggie shows, especially GSD training clips 😆

September carries two messages that are deeply connected to our work.

It is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month and National Service Dog Month.

For Montana, su***de prevention is especially urgent.

Our state has ranked among the top five in the nation for su***de rates for more than 40 years. Between 2011 and 2022, Montana’s overall su***de rate was nearly double the national rate—and Montana’s Veteran su***de rate remains significantly higher than the national Veteran rate.

These aren’t simply statistics.

They represent veterans, families, friends, and communities—and they are why our mission is rooted in making a difference.

Service dogs can save lives.

Not through magic. Not by working alone. And not as a replacement for professional care.

They can interrupt, ground, alert, and provide support during difficult moments. But the impact of the partnership reaches far beyond the tasks a dog performs.

For two years, veterans work alongside their dogs while building skills, strategies, confidence, connection, and purpose they can carry into everyday life—at home, at work, and in their communities.

The dog learns.

The veteran learns.

And together, they build a partnership designed to help the veteran keep moving forward.

Throughout September, we’ll share more about what that partnership looks like—and why sometimes the most important thing at the end of a leash isn’t the dog.
